Today we are celebrating the release of BROOKS by Chelsea M. Cameron. This book is a new adult, contemporary romance novel. It kicks off the new standalone series, Benson Brothers. Check out the buy links below.
Brooks Benson is bored, stuck and miserable. When both his parents were unable to continue running the variety store, he dropped out of college and came back home to help. It’s been almost two years and he’s tired of making pizzas and selling scratch tickets to the locals of Hope Harbor, Maine. But as the second oldest Benson brother, he’s the one that stepped up. Now all he can see is a gray future in front of him.
Remington “Remi” Tate is disappointed, frustrated and out of options. After dropping out of college and trying to make a go of it in New York, she’s forced to come back home to live with her parents in Hope Harbor. Totally humiliating. Things are looking pretty grim until she starts baking again and runs into Brooks when she visits Benson Variety to ask if they’ll sell her whoopie pies, cakes, and cookies.
What was once a high school crush is now something much more mature that hits both of them like a ton of bricks. Brooks is game, as long as they keep things physical. which is just fine with Remi. She’s not planning on sticking around Hope Harbor forever and Brooks is definitely a lifer. They’re just two different to ever build something that could last.
Life rarely goes according to plan and what starts as just sex soon turns into something that splashes color into their once-drab lives. For the first time, they find peace and security in one another. But will it last? Or will everything crumble into pieces, leaving them with nothing?

Excerpt:
The screen inner door banged open and I looked up, hoping no one was staring at the girl with the purple hair and the Tupperware container she had balanced in her hands.
Fortunately, the place was empty.
Except for one person.
Brooks Goddamn Benson. Goddamn wasn’t his middle name, but it might as well have been. We’d graduated the same year, but we’d never been friends. Not even close. What was he doing here, anyway? Last I heard he was off earning a master’s degree, in a land far, far away from Hope Harbor.
He looked up and I locked eyes with him. Mine narrowed and he just sort of… kept staring. Brooks was one of those guys who looked at you like he might be picturing you naked.
He cleared his throat. Not my type. Not at all…
He scratched his ear. “What can I do for you?” I thought about just turning around and walking out, but I’d already come this far and if he was back in town too, I was probably going to keep running into him.
“I was just wondering if you’d be willing to sell some of my baked goods here on commission. But I haven’t had any luck, so I’ll just leave,” I said, but he was looking down at the container.
“Did you bring some samples?” he asked. I set the container down, crossed my arms and nodded. I didn’t want this dude eating anything I’d put effort into, but if it would help me get away from my parents’ house, fuck it. I’d do it.
“Yeah. So you can judge their quality.” I didn’t mean to sound so sarcastic. I was really blowing this. I needed better people skills.
“Do you mind?” Hey, at least he asked. I nodded again and he opened the container. I stood there as he tried each item.
“Wow,” he said when he got to the cupcake. “That’s amazing. Where did you learn how to bake?” I was not making small talk with him.
“My mom,” I said. He finished the whole thing in three bites. There was some frosting on his nose. I wanted to wipe it off for some reason. Thankfully I caught myself and forced myself to stop looking at his face.

The AFTER DARK series are part of the LOVE IN BLOOM big family romance collection. Each book may be read as a stand-alone novel, or as part of the series.
LURED BY THE pulse of sex and anonymity, Amanda Jenner moved through the dusky bar, brushing against silk, satin, cotton, and flesh, each graze feeding the adrenaline coursing through her veins. Blue lights misted over sweaty strangers lost in the seductive bump and grind of foreplay and hoping for a night of erotic pleasure. If Amanda tried hard enough, she could smell tomorrow’s scent du jour—regret. Tonight she had no room for the confidence-crushing worry of what tomorrow would bring. She scanned the crowd, as she had in the previous three bars, immediately dismissing anyone who wasn’t in costume. Her world was full of boring men who excelled at wining, dining, and boring her to sleep. Ten years of romance novels and movies had led her astray, looking for the elusive needle in a haystack. She’d led herself astray, always the careful thinker, careful dresser. Or as her younger sister, Ally, would say, Careful kisser, careful lover. Ally, however, had taken charge of her sex life—and she’d found the perfect man.
Now it’s my turn.

Jill’s Review
Melissa Foster’s Bad Boys After Dark: Mick is an erotic romance that will have you swooning over this ‘Bad” boy!
Amanda may secretly dream about and crush on her boss but this is the work place and she will never do anything about it. But she is sick and tired of her boring life and the men she attracts. So armed with her ‘Handbook’ she is all set to master seducing a man. This will get her out of her rut and offer her some much needed excitement! And when she ventures out for the first time, to a masqueraded bar crawl, it looks like she has struck gold. She has attracted the attention of more than one man… but one, he holds her attention and attraction! But will he turn out to be a stranger or the boss she has always wanted?
The chemistry between Mick and Amanda was off the charts. I really have to wonder how they never felt it in the three years they worked together! Both hiding their thoughts about one another deep down. But now that the line has been crossed there is no masking it! I loved these characters.. how they tried to pretend it was all a game, but quickly realized it was so much more. Even though things moved quickly, it didn’t have an insta-love feel because they have known each other for years and already have an established relationship (even if it is boss/employee).
The characters in this book are just charming. You can’t helped but be caught up in their world. Amanda with her insecurities is just so real and relatable. And Mick, such a swoonworthy man… with a dirty side – just scrumptious! And can we take a moment to talk about the side characters? I wanted to jump in and be friends with everyone!
This was a hot and sexy story with a strong dose of love and romance. A wonderful summer read!

Introducing Toni Aleo’s highly anticipated debut Paranormal Romance novel, PIECES. This radiant, powerful + magical love story takes you into a new world where anything is possible; where an underground society in NYC will make you question everything you thought you ever knew.
In New York City, an underground society of supernatural beings exists, hidden among everyday humans. They don’t know of our activities or any of our secrets.
The districts of the Works are made up of vampires, wolves, shifters, witches, and I’m in the fifth and arguably most important district, the Patchwork. My father is the leader of our group, and he oversees all of the other factions.
As his only daughter, that makes me the princess of it all. Cool, right? Actually…no. Sure, I live in a mansion and money isn’t an object, but that doesn’t matter because I can’t leave. I have a guard who follows me around 24/7. My father and three older brothers treat me like I’m a fragile piece of glass, never allowed to take an independent step or make any decisions on my own. It’s beyond frustrating–especially since my father essentially runs my life. He says what I do, when I do it, how I do it, and all that jazz. He tests his formulas and new techniques on me. I’m a walking science experiment. I hate it. I hate my life here.
But then he comes along: Killian. He’s just some vampire…or so I thought.
But you’ll have to read my story to find out what I mean. To know my secrets. Until then, though, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Rebekah von Stein. And I’m a descendant of Dr. Frankenstein.
“Wow! Toni Aleo is the queen of hockey romance but now she writes paranormal flawlessly. Is there anything she can’t write? I think not. She weaved this new world of witches, wolves, vampires and Dr. Frankenstein’s descendants, that had me hooked from the very first page. It was a fresh new story that I devoured in one sitting. This story was filled with suspense, mystery and romance. It had me on edge wanting, no, needing to know what would happen next.” – GoodReads Review \\ Jill M \\ Embrace The Romance
“Okay, so what the hell? I didn’t see that coming. I mean, really, the queen of hockey writing about vampires, werewolves and Dr. Frankenstein’s descendants? Let me be a little sceptical. And after I read it, let me apologize for it. This book was a fresh wave. I devoured it. It took me only one night to finish it because this story didn’t let me go. I’m sitting here trying to put together the pieces – not funny – but I can’t. I want to read more books like this one. Just keep it up, Toni!” – GoodReads Review \\ Becca
“I loved this book it was phenomenal.I could not put it down for anything. I help my breath for most of it and still didn’t fully exhale when it was over! The end was left with a bit of a cliffhanger and it has me wanted so much more!” – GoodReads Review \\ Ash \\ Morning Books and Coffee
Jill’s Review
T. Aleo provided a fresh breath to a story you thought you knew, in her first venture into PNR, Pieces.
We have all heard of Frankenstein. You may have read the actual book or watched film and television adaptations of Frankenstein. But here, here we have a PNR that tells the story of Rebekah von Stein, her ancestor – Dr. Frankenstein.
We are thrust into the story, told from Rebekah’s POV. And you can’t help but feel for her. Cringe as her dad ‘works’ on her, applaud the way she has learned to kick ass, empathize with her feeling different than others, hope that she finds something better and more in this life. Is she a perfect character? Nope! But are any of us? She spends a lot of time feeling sorry for herself, but since she feels so alone and isolated I felt this fit in and made a lot of sense.
I read this in one sitting as I kept flipping those pages to see what was really going on, what would happen and how all of the pieces would fall into place. I had my theories and I NEEDED to know if I was right! The characters held me captive as they fought what was considered ‘right’ and true love.
Pieces is the first book in The Patchwork Series. So I know that means you are thinking – is it a cliffy? Will it leave me hanging? I feel that it had a satisfying ending. I wasn’t left pulling my hair out and I was left with some closure and hope for the future. That being said… am I DYING to get my hands on the next book? HELL YEAH! Am I left waiting to meet up with these characters again? YES YES YES!
I definitely recomend this book! It is a wonderful coming of age story wrapped in the world of vampires, wolves, witches, shifters and patchworks… a fresh take on a classic tale!

Today is Our day on the tour for Taking Jana by Rissa Brahm! Check out the excerpt Rissa is sharing with us and enter her amazing giveaway today!
About Taking Jana:
It’s her turn to drive.
Men take from Jana. Her dad and brother: money. Stage-side gawkers: her dignity. Still, she finished nursing school, won a spot in Manhattan’s top ER—thanks to no man. But when her dad’s business and heart fails, ever-loyal Jana Park must return to the stripper’s pole. Now even her boss’s chauffeur ogles her in the rearview. Faux-kindness—and irrefutable heat—aside, she glares back.
Because screw ’em all.
Chauffeur Antonio Ruiz is done with his cheating wife, the city, the almighty buck. His seaside home in Mexico calls. One last gig for his biggest client, the city’s strip club king, then he’s out. Except that the sharp, exotic, petite powerhouse of a woman he’s been hired to drive—day in-day out, glaring at him with those deep, solemn eyes—takes him over. If he could pierce her shield of doubt, he’d bring her home, far from this hell.
But, no. Jana’s got to take the wheel and drive. Away from her family’s abuse, her boss’s clutches…and toward Antonio’s true brand of love.
The road’s rocky. Will they make it to paradise? Or will it all go south… in the city.
For seven plus years, she’d exposed her freshly shaven slit to hordes of lecherous men while three or four other girls slapped her ass or went at her tits like hungry kittens, but here she was, blushing from the awkward and somehow intimate wake up by Tony the Limo Driver? His gentle touch to her shoulder had sent warmth and chills through her all at once; the strange sensation still lingered as she sat up and wiped the drool from her chin. Oh God, really?
How badly she missed her solitary life; ER to home, home to ER, more or less alone. She so craved that again.
He stood outside the open door now, waiting to help her out of the limo.
“Traffic took its toll,” he said, noticing her check the time on her phone, blurry-eyed. “You know, I can take you directly to your house. It’s late and I’d prefer to bring you safely to your doorstep. I’m insured, bonded, and licensed. You don’t need to worry about security matters on my end,” he told her. His voice was thankfully mellow, matching the quiet of the night and the sleepy haze that still hung on her eyelids.
She rubbed her eyes and let out a light laugh, then shook her head. “No, no. I live upstairs. Above the restaurant. I wasn’t worried about you having my address.”
She grabbed her purse and slid out of the backseat. “I’m a New York City ER nurse. Not much scares me, least of all a chauffeur from the Jersey suburbs,” she quipped, but her sarcasm even took her by surprise. She softened then, feeling badly. “Sorry. It’s late and I’m just really tired. Thank you for getting me home. I don’t know how this works. Do I call you when I need a lift next, or…?”
“Here you go.” He reached into the compartment under his radio and handed her a business card. “During the day, I’ll be waiting wherever you are, or I’ll always only be twenty minutes away, at most, grabbing a bite or whatever. But either way, when I’m not parked where you are, just call my direct cell anytime, day or night. The Demontes have contracted me for three months solid. I’m all yours.” His cheeks blushed immediately and his eyes shot to the ground with his last words.
She pretended not to notice as she took the card from his hand with a nod of thanks and shoved it directly into her purse. “Okay, well, can you come in the morning, like at six? I’ve got to get to the hospital, Fort Lee General. Then down to the club by five.”
“Not a problem,” he said as he moved back from her, reaching for his car door.
“Let me just…” she said as she rummaged through her purse in the dark.
“No tip, please. The Demontes have handled all costs.” He gave her a mild smile, so professional, almost robot-like. He was a good-looking, well-built man, but with zero spark, no personality to speak of at all. She could tell this would be a long three months. But, again, she needed as little chatter and drama added to her pot as possible. Tony would work out fine.

Holt spotted Naiya at a table with Ally as soon as he entered the bar.
Ever watchful, Tank stood beside Naiya, his hand in his cut, his eyes darting from side to side as he searched for danger.
“Darlin’.” Holt leaned over to kiss her and she pulled away. He supposed he deserved that, but right now he wasn’t in a mood to play games. His brothers had taken Michael out back to await Holt’s justice and after Holt had let loose his anger, he wanted nothing more than to hold his woman in his arms. Preferably, naked and in his bed. But first he’d have to gain her forgiveness.
Naiya glared, her eyes dropping to his blood-smeared hand. “Is that Maurice’s blood? Ally said you beat him up.”
He pushed her hair back behind her ear, trailing his fingers down her neck. God, she was beautiful. Sexy. Fiery. And his. What the hell had he been thinking walking away and leaving her unprotected? “Nah. That’s Michael’s blood. I had to teach him a lesson. He made the mistake of messing with a Sinner’s woman in a Sinner bar in the Sinners’ town.”
Naiya stared at him aghast. “You beat him up, too?”
“Anyone who hurts you. Anyone who touches you. Anyone who makes scared. Anyone who makes you cry. I’ll rip out their hearts, break their bones, and drown in their fucking blood to keep you safe.”
“That’s kind of romantic in a terrifying, morbid, ruthless, outlaw-biker kinda way,” Ally said. “Doug just says ‘love ya, babe’ or ‘keep safe.’”
“It’s only romantic if the guy is actually around to do it,” Naiya said, slapping Holt’s hand away. “But if he drops you off at a hotel in a strange town and leaves you to fend for yourself while he drives off to get himself killed, it loses its effect.”
“You looked after yourself pretty good.” Holt pulled his chair closer, rested his hand on her knee. “Smart move coming here when you saw Michael sniffing around.”
Naiya pushed at his hand, but he held her fast, stroking his thumb along the inside of her thigh.
“What was I supposed to do?” Her voice rose in pitch. “Go to the police? I may have been living a civilian life, but I spent six years with the Black Jacks. I know the kind of power the clubs have. I know how things work. And I know I’ll be happy when I leave town and get away from all things MC.”
“You also know you gotta listen to your man. And your man wants you to stay with the Sinners until I’ve dealt with Viper.” Holt tilted her head back with one finger under her chin, then leaned in and kissed her, his free hand ready to grab her wrist if she tried to slap him.
Which she did, because his Naiya had a spine of steel.
“Who says you’re my man?”
“I do.” He met her gaze, watched her eyes darken to brown.
“It sure didn’t feel like you were my man when you left.” She pulled away, and Holt gritted his teeth. Didn’t she understand that he had come back for her? That for now he had put aside his quest for revenge to keep her safe?
“When I put you in the position of having to pull that weapon, I realized I’d brought you back into a world you don’t want to be in. I didn’t want to waste any time getting you out.” He traced the bow of her mouth, pleased when her lips parted at his touch. She couldn’t be that angry. After all, she was still here, and she had come to the brothers to ask them to warn him.
“I can take myself out.” She drew his hand away. “I’ve got interviews set up in different states . . .” Her voice trailed off when Holt frowned. How could he protect her if she left? Viper would send men to chase her wherever he went. Sweat trickled down his back. This reunion wasn’t going exactly as expected.
“You don’t leave,” he blurted out. “You don’t go.”
She studied him for a long moment, and then she stroked a light finger over his jaw, her voice soft, as if they were alone and not in the bar with the Sinners watching them and Tank and Ally sitting at their table. Like she’d forgiven him for leaving her. “You’re lucky I understand your bossy, evil biker ways.”
Yes! Forgiven. Holt heaved a sigh of relief. “I’m gonna take you back to the clubhouse and show you just how evil I can be.” He covered her hand with his, and pressed his lips to her fingertips. Her sharp intake of breath made him instantly hard. And suddenly it all didn’t matter. Viper. Michael. His status in the club. All he wanted was this woman who took away the pain and the darkness; who made him feel whole again.
After enduring months of torture at the hands of the Black Jacks MC, and betrayed by his own club, Holt “T-Rex” Savage, a junior member of the Sinner’s Tribe Motorcycle Club, will stop at nothing to get revenge. But falling for a beautiful woman with dangerous ties to his sworn enemy was never part of the plan…
Raised by the Black Jacks, Naiya Kelly grew up fast, furiously, and with little to lose. But now that she’s put her MC days behind her, she is free to do what she wants—until she meets a man who imprisons her, body and soul. She swore she’d never give her heart to a biker, but Holt is the most passionate, protective man she’s ever known. But will Holt be forced to betray his one true love to exact his revenge?

“An origin is supposed to be the beginning of everything, but I fear it’s the end…for me… for all of us. My name is Jesca Sera, my reality has been pierced and it is with absolute certainty that nothing will ever be the same in our world again. “ ~ Jesca
Jesca’s life is full of averages; average childhood, average family, average part-time job with her best friend while she attends college close to home. Ezra’s office is substantial for a professor. We sit at his desk opposite each other and eat in silence. I mainly pick, too wrapped up in what he has to tell me. As Ezra eats, my interest settles on an ant farm.
I give a sarcastic-filled mumble, “Friends of yours?”
I remember having an ant farm when I was eight years old. I’d sit for hours giving each of them names and create elaborate stories in which they starred. They each had a distinct job in the farm and their purpose was survival divided into bad days—ants trapped or waiting for death—and good days—ants being rescued or digging a new tunnel to the unknown. I was al- ways so excited for them when they cleared a new passage. I knew the big picture of the farm, while they could only see millimeters ahead of themselves.
“They’re fascinating little creatures, aren’t they?”
Ezra is watching me gaze upon the ant farm. “They’re creating their own world in there. Each has a purpose. Each has a significant part in the functionality and nature of their survival individually and cumulatively. Some make good choices and some make bad ones. The natural balance of good and bad reveals itself in everything at some point in time.”
He wipes his mouth with his napkin and tosses it into the wastebasket next to his desk. “You know, we’re just like those ants.”
“Oh, really? How’s that?”
“Remember our conversation the first time we ran into each other at Margot’s?”
I nod and keep my response to the point, wanting to know why I’m sitting here with my professor who seems to know more about me than I do. “Wormholes, Einstein, negative mass, multi-universes.”
Ezra leans back and rests his hand on the arms rests of the chair. “Well, these little ants are in a pursuit just as many of us are. They want to cut out new tunnels with the hopes of finding something greater than what they have. Sometimes they tunnel and find they’ve gone nowhere. Other times, they tunnel, get trapped, and need to be saved. Sometimes there’s mutiny against one. The others either save it or kill and eat it to keep their expanding world unpolluted.”
I don’t know where this is going. “Yeah, well that’s disgusting. Listen, you said you were going to tell me what’s going on!”
I lean back in my chair. “I’d really like to get home, so if we could just get this over with that would be great.”
Ezra’s gaze is steady as he speaks evenly. “As a child you were adopted by the Sera family. You have a younger sister, biological to the Sera’s. Her name is Bethany. Your best friend is Elicia Montgomery. You’ve been inseparable since you were three years old. You have nightmares, but only one that’s become more frequent and vivid in the recent weeks. You’re also experiencing unexplainable abilities.”
I put my hand up to stop him. “Whoa! How do you know about me, my life and my family? You know, I could report you to the dean of students. I don’t need this shit in my life right now!”
I rise up from my chair intent on leaving, but his words keep me from moving. “Roan and Delilah are old friends. We’re very close. And reporting me to the Dean of Students will do nothing for you. You’ve got nothing to go on.”
Did he just call my bluff. Son of a bitch!
I flop down in the seat as my voice quivers with rage. “Who the hell are you and how do you know my parents?”

It came in an unassuming white box (about the length and width of a book) with pink packing tape. At first I was thinking what in the world is this? Then as I began to open the box I saw a nice Romance Reveal Book Box sticker on the flap of the box . I think I may have squealed! Once you open the box, everything is wrapped and hidden in pink tissue paper. It has a sticker holding it together that says: PEEL and REVEAL! Honestly it took everything in me not to rip that sucker open and instead, stop and take a picture first so I could show you. Patience may not be my strong suit 😉
So picture taken.. I ripped into the tissue paper (I was a little too eager to peel and reveal!) Everything was packaged nicely so that it all made it to me, not only in one piece but in perfect condition. The first things I went for were the signed books – shocked aren’t ya?! I needed to know what was hiding beneath all that cool swag! I was delighted to find, that not only were they two awesome books by fantastic authors… but the books were in pristine condition! I don’t know about you, but that made my heart extra happy! (I may have this thing, where if a book has marks, dents, bent pages, cracked spines, etc… that I feel like the book is actually hurt. – I never claimed to be normal!) Both books are absolutely beautiful and did I mention SIGNED?! Next it was time to look through all the extras. What fun to open up the bag and keep pulling out more and more book swag! And bonus points for the packaging keeping them in fantastic shape! And the product sample – in its own bag! And the candle smells delightful!
All in all, this was a FABULOUS box. If you are looking for a subscription box service I would definitely look at them. It has everything you could want at very affordable prices!

Title: Say You’ll Stay
Author: Corinne Michaels
Release Date: June 20, 2016
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Synopsis
One word.
Stay.
It was all he had to do. Instead, he got on that bus and took my heart with him.
That was seventeen years ago.
I moved on. Marriage. Kids. White picket fence. Everything I ever wanted, but my husband betrayed me and I was left once again.
Alone, penniless, and with two boys, I had no choice but to return to Tennessee. He wasn’t supposed to be there. I should’ve been safe. However, fate has a way of stepping in.
This time around, the tables are turned. It’s my decision. Second chances do exist, but I don’t know if we can repair what’s already been broken . . .
“Hey.” Zach peers at me as I shake off my thoughts. “I figured you’d be asleep.” He climbs the steps slowly as I get to my feet.
“I figured you’d be gone.”
I walk toward him, unsure of why he’s here. “I left for a bit, but wanted to come check on you.”
“Oh.”
He snickers. “I couldn’t sleep.”
“Me either.” He’s close enough that I can smell his cologne. Even after a long night, being in the woods, he smells like home.
I take another step.
Then another.
I’m so close I have to tilt my head to look into his eyes.
I breathe him in, feel his heat, and I can’t stop myself. I want him. I need him. I grip his neck and yank his mouth to mine. I kiss him. I kiss him and give in to everything I’ve been feeling. He doesn’t waste a second. His arms wrap around me, holding my body against his. My fingers grip his neck, keeping him exactly where I need him. This kiss is frantic, but God it feels good.

Jill’s Review
I have been on a bit of a second-chance romance kick lately and Corinne Michael’s Say You’ll Stay filled that fix perfectly.
Presley has known heartbreak and felt the loss of love twice in her life. After being left alone, homeless and caring for her sons, she has no choice but to return home to her parents. Her family is great… but she had left the town when she went away to college… and after the relationship ended with her first love she had no intention of ever returning. Everything about her childhood home, the town reminds her of him. What she doesn’t know… is he is back there too.
The characters were written beautifully. You feel their pain, heartbreak, fear, strength, determination and love. You get to ride the ride with them as they live their lives. I think that is what I liked most about this book – the real feel and the way you were caught up in it. It felt like it took place in real time – no rushing the renewed relationship. Time to learn how to make-up with one another, love again, forgive the past… And they dealt with all of it – which sets this book apart from others. And can we just take a moment to all SWOON with how every man stepped up and took a role in the children’s lives. It melted me!!
I definitely recomend this book! It was a beautiful story of love, strength, friendship, second chances and mending the broken pieces of your heart.
I received a complimentary copy of Say You’ll Stay in exchange for my honest review.

About A Man of Honor:
DESIGNED BY TOJ PUBLISHING SERVICES WWW.TOJPUBLISHING.COM
He survived combat…but will he fight for love?
Former Army Captain and venture capitalist Preston Guthrie has always had a thing for Cat Kingston, but he never felt like he could date his best friend’s sister. Plus, he’s a wrong-side-of-the-tracks guy and she’s a white-picket-fence kind of woman. Yet when they met again just before he was deployed, sparks flew. A fire ignited. And the heat was hot. For the first time, he thought a relationship with her might be possible…until an injury in the war changed everything…
Journalist Cat Kingston had a rough couple of years, surviving a broken engagement and the loss of her job. But connecting with Preston last fall seemed right. They shared steamy Skype sessions while he was overseas—until he was wounded, and cut her off without explanation. Now he’s back in town to be the Best Man for her sister’s wedding…and she wants answers.
Preston’s struggling with a leg wound, but the war scarred him on the inside, too. When Cat pays him a surprise visit and her brother catches them in a compromising position, Preston tells him they’re dating. He’s not sure how he can spend the entire wedding week fake-dating her when the chemistry between them feels anything but…
“It’s okay,” she said, ready to dig into her own. “We can change the subject.”
He put down the burger and wiped his mouth with his napkin. “I took a bullet for one of my squadron mates. I jumped in instinctively, but I wasn’t quite fast enough to get us both out of the way. It caught me in the leg and shattered my knee.”
“What about your buddy?”
“He and his wife just had a baby girl.”
Her eyes began to tear up suddenly.
He shifted in his seat. “Oh, come on now, don’t cry.”
“I’m not crying.” She swiped at the corners of her eyes.
“I bet you cry at sappy old movies. And weddings.”
“Don’t forget baptisms, baby showers, and bar mitzvahs, too.”
“Well then, get ready to open the floodgates. Want to know the best part?”
“What’s that?”
“They asked me to be godfather.” Then the smart-ass handed over his napkin.
She used it to daub at her eyes even as she rolled them at him. He sat across from her and chuckled.
“You’re a hero,” she said. “Whatever bad feelings you have about the war, at least you know you did a good thing. A really good thing.”
“It’s not the people you helped that gets you. It’s the men you couldn’t save.”
Their gazes caught again across the tiny table. He had the most expressive blue eyes. The same color as the summer sky behind him, and so full of feeling, Cat could not imagine what he had gone through in combat. She wished she could say something, anything funny to bring the laughter back into them, but words escaped her.
“I was just doing my job,” he said in a detached tone. “And speaking of doing my job, I found you a prospect. To date.” He pulled out an iPad from his briefcase. “An investment banker. I’ve known him a long time. I can vouch for the fact that he’s a great guy.”
“Oh, wonderful.” She rubbed her hands together in faux excitement, but deep down, she didn’t have the heart for it.
The man on the screen was white haired. Not gray on the sides or even gray all over but as stark white as a bleached sheet flapping in the breeze.
“I’ve known Carlos since I graduated from college.”
“Is he your grandfather?”
“Ha ha. Very funny.”
“Has he been married?”
“He’s a widower.”
“Kids?”
“Five.”
She shut the iPad. “This does not count as a genuine prospect.”
“I can’t help it if you shallowly reject good candidates based solely on their appearance.”
“I am not shallow.”
He shrugged. “I don’t know what else I would call it.”
“I’m not attracted to fifty-three-year-olds. And he doesn’t even look fifty-three. He looks seventy-three.”
“Your problem, not mine.”
“You suck at this!”
“Maybe you can help me narrow my search by telling me what you’re looking for in a guy.”
“Kind, ambitious, cute. Not a grandfather. Someone who loves me just the way I am.”
“Who wouldn’t love you just the way you are?” His eyes sparked with conviction. Emotions flickered across his face that she couldn’t interpret—regret, anger, and something else much darker. Want. She could swear he looked at her the way a man looks at a woman he wants to kiss, long and hard and deep.

Trailer
Excerpt
We clink our glasses together then down the shots. The groomsman passes me a lime wedge, but I shake my head, causing him to pull me aside.
“My name’s Jared,” he says with a cocky smirk.
“I thought this was supposed to be a no-names night?” I reply, giving him shit, even though I have no interest in him.
“It is. But for you, I’ll make an exception. You need to know what name to say when I make you scream later.”
Cade comes up from behind Jared, clamping his big hand down on Jared’s skinny shoulder.
Jared glances back at Cade. They share some kind of a look that causes Jared to immediately ditch me. He saunters over to Tory and throws his arm around her, which earns him a hint of a smile from Cade.
“So does this mean you’re not married?” Tory asks Jared.
“Nope, I’m single as a Pringle,” he replies.
I expect Cade to say something to me, but instead he turns away.
I’m not sure what just happened, but I think it was some guy-code thing.
And it pisses me off.
Tory sees the rage on my face, takes my hand, and drags me off to the bathroom.
“What’s wrong?”
“Did you see that!?” I rant, as we step inside the ladies’ room, finding a long line. “Cade cock blocked me! Not that I wanted that guy’s cock, because you already called dibs on it, but Cade didn’t know that!”
“Since you don’t have a cock,” she replies. “I think it’s called blocking the box.”
“Oh, no,” the girl in front of us says. “It’s called twat blocking.”
A voice from inside one of the stalls yells out, “It’s called clam jamming.”
Pretty soon everyone in the bathroom is giving us their opinions.
“Twat swatting or twat stopping.”
“Beaver dammed.”
“Va-jected!”
I shake my head at Tory. “Whatever. It really shouldn’t matter what part you have. I got cock blocked because I will be having no cock tonight.”
“There’s still time,” Tory says. “You can have the groomsman. You need to get laid worse than I do, honey. It’s been far too long.”
“But why would he cock block me and then walk away?!”
As soon as the words tumble out of my mouth, Cade’s mother steps out of one of the stalls.
I put my head down, hoping she won’t notice me and, thankfully, she squeezes past us without saying a word.
“Holy buckets,” Tory says when the door closes behind her. “Wasn’t that his mother?”
“Uh, yeah. You can kill me now.”
REVIEW
Jill’s Review
Broken Love by Jillian Dodd is a wonderful second chance love story. It is that perfect summer read – sweet, flirty, sexy.
Young love burns hot and bright, but one big fight, a misunderstanding, ends them right at the height if their love. Palmer and Cade have had little to do with each other the last few years. They kinda hate each other. But you know what they say, there is a thin line between love and hate! Will these two ever be able to find their way back to one another?
I just adore second chance romance stories. All the feelings and emotions that exist between them.. the hopes, dreams and heartache. And Broken Love delivered on all of it. You just knew that Palmer and Cade belonged together!
This can absolutely be read as a standalone, I did and wasn’t lost a bit. However I found all of the characters so intriguing that I already one-clicked the first book, Vegas Love!
I received a complimentary Copy of Broken Love in exchange for my honest review.

“Cheers.” My seatmate good-naturedly tipped his glass toward me. He wasn’t going to leave me alone.
I took a long gulp and looked back at my computer screen.
“Do you like working for them?”
I tugged at my turtleneck; it was so freaking hot all of a sudden. My nosy neighbor’s face had a slight sheen to it, clearly from being hot, and now his warmth was seeping into my space.
“I do. They’re a growing company and . . . I’ve made great strides there.”
What the heck? Why was I even answering him? Because he asked, and if I was honest, it was the nicest anyone had been to me in months.
Furthermore, why did I sound like I was on an interview? Or an infomercial?
He was kind—I could tell—and his smile was gentle and calm, his eyes like warm coffee with just the right amount of cream swirling through it. I turned a little in my seat to face him and my knee brushed his thigh. I let my gaze travel his Beastie Boys T-shirt until I settled on his computer.
Playing on it was a rom-com, one I’d never seen before, but Katie What’s-her-name—all stunning, shiny hair, celebrity mom, perfect life—was front and center. Her arms were full of shopping bags and she was wearing a big grin on her perfect face as she walked down a city street.
“You don’t strike me as the romantic comedy type.” I felt my eyebrow lift. I wasn’t sure if I was teasing him or myself as the question floated from my mouth.
He laughed. It was soothing and comforting like a coffee-and-Kahlua on a cold night, and warm like the sun on the first few days of summer.
I allowed my eyes to close and imagined he looked like somebody else—not someone else totally, but just different. Fit, not slender but muscular. He still had the same gracious smile and inviting eyes, but he wasn’t wearing a music T-shirt in my imagination. Maybe a Henley? And dark-wash jeans instead of the regular everyday ragged blue I’d noticed him wearing.
“It’s work too,” he said, interrupting my fantasy.
“Oh.” I chugged the balance of my mimosa, cooling the wash of desire recently conjured up from my brain.
“Actually, I’m pretty sure BubblePOP will end up reviewing this one, will probably have someone at the premiere too. That’s why I asked about the site. Six degrees of Kevin Bacon and all that. Our worlds are connected.”
“I don’t do movies. I’m the fitness editor, but if Katie What’s-her-name is in it, I’m sure we’ll be all over it.”
He shifted his gaze over fully to me now. His eyes weren’t exclusively deep brown; tiny flecks of amber circled his pupil. They were captivating in a weird way, as if they didn’t belong with this guy.
I’d never met a slob who was so interesting before, yet he was definitely intriguing. And not really a slob—that was my own bias. Clearly, I was having some sort of psychotic breakdown on this airplane.
