I left Lakeside, Montana heartbroken and lost with no desire to ever return.
    But life had other plans.
Moving back wasn’t what I wanted to do, but I’d do anything for my daughter Emmy. Including put myself right in the path of Sadie Jones.
    My daughter’s new dance teacher.
The reason my heart was never fully opened to anyone else was because it’s always belonged to her.

When I watched Reed Sanders drive away from Lakeside, I knew my heart would never recover.
He was meant for more than what this town could offer him.
Than what I could offer him.
I tried to warn him to stay away from me but he refused to listen.
If only he would have, maybe then I wouldn’t feel so broken.

The heart is mysterious. It can be closed off and open at the same time.
Unfortunately, sometimes it takes danger lurking around the corner to make it choose a side.
All I can hope is that one day I can finally hear the words… I’m Yours.

    Undone Synopsis

Is it possible to make up for the way we have hurt others?
I wonder if it truly is.

Can we undo what has already been done?
    No. We can’t.

I know for a fact, we cannot un-say words that have been bitterly spoken by a deliberate slip of a tongue.
    Words hurt.
    They sting.
    They burn.

The truth is, I didn’t want to hurt Ellie Wynn, but I knew I would.

She was a temptation I couldn’t resist. An addiction that lived in my blood, and I wasn’t about to go in search of a cure.

    Not when I needed her.
    Wanted her.
    Craved her.

There are no quick fixes to what I’ve done.
No pill to take away her pain.

All I have is the cold truth.

    It’s brittle.
    It’s brutal.
I’ll be damned if because of it, I let her slip away.

“I find out the love of your life saunters back in town, searching you out, and you didn’t even bother to tell me! I’ve been down this road before, Cord, and if you remember, I got my ass burned, so excuse me for not wanting to make a second trip.”

“For fuck’s sake,” he rumbled, finally taking a step back, giving him room to lift those long, strong arms so he could rake his fingers through his sexy hair in frustration. “She’s not the love of my life. Did I love her at one point? Yeah. I’ve been up front about that with you. But I’ve also been up front about the fact that those feelings in me died a long time ago. I haven’t loved her in a long fuckin’ time, Rory.” Before I could object and point out it wasn’t that long ago, he continued. “What I felt for her when she showed up wasn’t love, it was obligation. You know that too.”

“Then why didn’t you tell me she was back?” I snapped, refusing to get my hopes up.

“Because I haven’t even thought about it!” he snarled. “Christ, Rory! She showed up, made her play at Alpha Omega, and I shot her the fuck down.”

My mouth dropped open in shock. “You… what?”

“I shot her down. And I did it in a way that she couldn’t misinterpret at all, baby. And if that hadn’t been enough, the way Linc, Xander, and Rox laid into her solidified my point. After I said what I needed to say, I walked away. And yeah, it pissed me off, but once I was done feelin’ that, I put it outta my mind and never went back to it. I’ve been too consumed thinking about you for the past seven goddamn months to even give her a second thought.”

Oh god. Okay. I really liked that.

“But… if that’s the case, why haven’t you kissed me?”

His chin jerked back in surprise. “What?”

“All those times recently I thought you were going to kiss me… you were right there, and I thought any second you were going to do it. Then you pulled back and walked away from me. If you weren’t thinking about her, why’d you do that?”

“Because you said all you could give me was your friendship,” he barked, throwing his arms wide. “Fuck, Rory. What the hell did you think I was gonna do, huh? Break the trust I’ve been workin’ my ass off to build back up with you? I’ve wanted you so long I don’t know how to feel anything else, but I couldn’t risk losin’ you again. Not when I just got you back.” His fingers went through his hair again as he grunted, “Jesus, what do you want from me?”

“I—” I quickly clamped my mouth shut as his eyes swung back to me.

“Jesus. Fuck me,” he said on a low, shocked grunt. “You wanted me to kiss you?”

My cheeks flamed with humiliation, but there was no point in denying it. I’d already dug the hole this deep; might as well keep going. “I tipped my face up and closed my eyes,” I said, reminding him of what happened in my parents’ living room. “When a woman presses close, tips her face up, and closes her eyes, just a heads-up, Cord, she wants to be kissed,” I finished on a snark.

His voice came out in a whisper as he repeated, “You wanted me to kiss you.”

“I thought you were going to, so yeah,” I admitted indignantly, “I wanted it. But now I—”

And that was all I got out before he moved, wrapped his arms around me in a vice grip, and slammed his lips down on mine.

“You’ve got a quick mouth on you, Ellie. I like it. It makes me wonder what else it can do.”

The intensity grows in his eyes while his words hit me between my thighs.

    Throbbing.

The night he brought me here, he melted my panties. Tonight, no matter how much he tries charming me, they won’t be coming off.

    “You’ll never know.”

    “We both know I will.”

    No, he will not.

“Speaking of having a quick mouth. Here’s something you can chew on and swallow. I won’t submit to anyone. If I want you, I’ll have you. If I don’t, I won’t. You, you’re a…”

Shit. I can’t even force the word, and I refuse to bend to his patronization. Him trying, pours more gasoline to the raging fire burning within.

“A male whore? Is that what you’re trying to say? I was one, Ellie. I haven’t been in almost a year.”

Possessiveness surges. Hard and heavy that it consumes my mind. I want to punch every woman he’s had before me. It’s a crazy notion when I don’t even know this man.

Logan takes hold of my hand that’s dangling at my side and drops a kiss across each of my knuckles, dancing eyes searching mine. His touch is soft, familiar, intimate, and my skin tingles where his lips graze.

“I sense there’s more your gorgeous mouth would like to say to me. Perhaps go to hell? Fuck off? Maybe what the hell is going on? Why was I at a dance club the night I brought you here and had the best sex of my life when I could have been at my club? Would you like to know what I’d like to say to you?”

No, I really wouldn’t. The man already has my mind traveling back in time. Right back to ten years ago.

“I’d like to tell you to get on your hands and knees, to spread those sweet thighs, pull my hair when I bury my tongue in between them. I’d like to know if our night together was as good for you as it was for me. I love to tell you to scream; only this time saying my name when I make you come.”

I roll my eyes and swallow, pressing my thighs together as memories of him asking me to do all but the last assault me in the spot his intention wanted to hit.

Logan Mitchell, I knew the name, but on him, I like it—Bossy, sexy, overly confident, dangerous.

You just know that a book titled Once Upon a Bad Boy is going to be delicious! Melonie Johnson gave us a sweet and sexy second chance “Hollywood” romance. This author has quickly become an author that I NEED to read! I absolutely ADORE her writing.

All of the books in this Sometimes in Love series have completely entertained me and I haven’t wanted them to end! Each of these books can definitely be read as a standalone. While they are interconnected, it is the characters that make appearances in all books. You won’t be missing any storyline if you just pick up one, or if you *gasp* read them out of order!

Bo and Sadie were wonderful characters. I was rooting the whole time for them to find their HEA! I loved that we got to see some memories of how they were as children. It added a depth to the story that I appreciated.

I also really enjoyed that the characters came from different backgrounds — both socioeconomically and culturally. I liked that they had to truly grow up and see that their differences weren’t as big as they seemed in their heads. I also really loved the subtle nods to their cultural — through language, food etc. For me, I feel like it isn’t very often that we see a Jewish character and seeing it here just made my heart swell.

I really hope that this isn’t the end of the series. I would love to get Ana & Delaney’s stories!

Guys this is a book you want to make sure you read!

Smitten by the Brit was a fun & entertaining read. It is the sweet tale of Theo and Bonnie finally giving into and trusting the chemistry that has been there since they first met.

I liked how Theo wasn’t your typical romance hero. He is exceedingly polite… the man says Thank You after he orgasms! Lol! While I love myself some alpha man… it is fun to read romances that are about all different types! I also enjoyed Bonnie’s love of all things Shakespeare and Austen.

The book had some moments that literally had me laughing out loud. The hen party (bachelorette party)… omg that was fantastic! Witches hats, special wands and lewd Harry Potter jokes. I could picture that like a movie running through my head!

This is a great summer, beach read!

Full of action, danger, magic and two people who need to learn to trust each other — The Midnight Bride is a fast, fun, steamy read that packs a punch.

I absolutely love the fantasy world that Kati Wilde has created here. I am mesmerized by how Kati deals with and explains magic in this series. Her prose in the book is flowing and befitting a fantasy yet still super easy to read.

Mara is a strong heroine. Off to win an impossible tournament to save those she loves. Strax has also entered the tournament and has been dogging Mara’s steps from the get-go. Strax rubs Mara the wrong way but when push comes to shove their passion and chemistry explodes.

For me the biggest takeaway from The Midnight Bride is how important trust is. Without trust in others we will not be able to succeed.
And love is always weakened without trust.

I also just need to take a second to acknowledge how magnificent and picturesque the language in a Fantasy novel can be. You can say things here that just make sense and fit… where you would be rolling your eyes in a contemporary!
So blessed he was, to have a wife as hot as the sun and as wet as the ocean.
Seriously, I freaking LOVE this line!!

And I can’t forget the MAP! Kati Wilde does an amazing job creating maps for these books… but there is one in this book that takes the cake! If you do one thing today… get this book and read to the end so you can see the last map in the book. I WANT this map to hang in my room! It was the very best thing I have seen in a long time!

    Chapter One

Maynemouth, Devonshire, 1890 Ten years later

    Alexander,

Accept the invitation to Castle Redmayne. I’m in danger. I need you.

    —Frank

Alexandra Lane had spent the entire train ride from Lon- don to Devonshire meticulously pondering those fourteen words for two separate reasons.

The first, she had been unable to stop fretting for Francesca, who tended to give more than the appropriate amount of context. The terse, vague note Alexandra now held was more of a warning than the message contained therein.

The second, she could no longer afford a first-class, private railcar, and had, for the last several tense hours, been forced to share her vestibule face-to-face with a rough- featured, stocky man with shoulders made for labor.

    Alone.

He’d attempted polite conversation at first, which she’d rebuffed with equal civility by feigning interest in her correspondence. By now, however, they were both painfully aware she needn’t take four stops to read two letters.

It was terribly rude, she knew. Her carpetbag remained clutched in her fist the entire time, except when her hand would wander into its depths to palm the tiny pistol she always carried. The sounds of the other passengers in ad- joining vestibules didn’t make her feel safer, per se.

But she knew they would hear her scream, and that provided some relief.

For a woman who’d spent a great deal of the last ten years in the company of men, she’d thought these painful moments would have relented by now.

Alas, she’d become a mistress of manipulating a situation so, even if she had to endure the company of men without a female companion, there would be more than one man. In the circles she tended to frequent, people behaved when in company.

    It had worked thus far.

Alexandra braced herself against the slowing of the train, breathing a silent prayer of relief that they’d finally arrived. She’d been terrified that if she’d glanced up once, she’d be forced into conversation with her unwanted companion.

Rain wept against the coach window, and the shadows of the tears painted macabre little serpents on the conflicting documents in her hands. One, a wedding invitation. The other, Francesca’s alarming note.

A month past, she’d have wagered her entire inheritance against Francesca Cavendish’s being the first of the Red Rogues to capitulate to the bonds of matrimony.

A month past, she’d assumed she’d had an inheritance to wager.

Their little society had seemed destined to live up to the promise they’d once made as young, disenchanted girls to never marry.

Until the invitation to an engagement masquerade— given by the Duke of Redmayne—had arrived the same day of her friend’s cryptic and startling note.

The invitation had been equally as ambiguous, stating that the future duchess of Redmayne would be unveiled, as it were, at the ball. Included in Alexandra’s particular envelope was a request for her to attend as a bridesmaid.

The subsequent plea for help from Francesca—Frank— had arrived in a tiny envelope with the Red Rogue seal they’d commissioned some years prior.

Alexandra hadn’t even known Francesca had returned from her romps about the Continent. Last she’d heard, the countess had been in Morocco, doing reconnaissance of some sort. Nothing in her letters had mentioned a suitor. Not a serious one, in any case. Certainly not a duke.

Francesca had a talent for mischief and a tendency to interpret danger as mere adventure.

So, what could possibly frighten her fearless friend?

Marriage, obviously, Alexandra thought with a smirk.

A risky venture, to be sure.

Q: What inspired you to write How to Love a Duke in Ten Days?

A:  I’ve always been one of those women who have enjoyed fierce female friendships. I think that soulmates, even for heterosexual women, can be just as necessary with other women as with men, and a real hero must not just love and respect you, but also your tribe. I wanted to write a series where historical heroines could truly have it all, education, dreams, businesses, wealth, genius, revenge, hot sex, AND true love. Where the sacrifices were made on their behalf instead by them, and where their heroes learn to lift them up in all ways, heal their pains, calm their fears, become their best friends, and protect them with what I hope is a great balance between alpha hotness and progressive sensitivity.

Q: Is there one thing you would like readers to take away from this story?

A: That’s tough because I packed a lot in there! I would say the one thing from this book, specifically, is that happiness is attainable against the odds, even when overcoming the worst that people can do to one another. Even though I’m a grown up and a cynic, I still like to write books that remind me that true love conquers all, because that love can come from so many people.

Q: Can you describe your typical day writing this book?

A: This book was especially difficult for me to write, so I spent a great deal of time in my bathrobe. I would get up, my fantastic husband would make me coffee, I’d call my critique partner and we’d do a bit of brainstorming, and I’d write and rewrite for hours, stress, cry, throw things, walk the dog, eat, snack, eat some more, facebook way too much, and then finish under word count, binge a tv show or a book until I stared at the ceiling into the wee hours. Oh, and there was drinking in there at regular intervals.

    Glamorous, I know!

Q: Describe the hero and heroine of How to Love a Duke in Ten Days in three words each.

A: The Duke of Redmayne:          Wary. Wounded. Wicked.

Lady Alexandra Lane:                        Brave. Brilliant. Beautiful.

Q: What is the one thing that the heroine, Alexandra, can’t live without?

A: She cannot live without her two dearest friends in the entire world, Miss Cecelia Teague, and Lady Francesca Cavendish. They literally buried a body for her, and would defend her to the death.

Q: What was your hardest scene to write in How to Love a Duke in Ten Days? Your favorite?

A: As with many (most) of my novels, the prologues are the hardest to write, and read, I suspect. Usually I take the characters to the very edge of their breaking point, often times pushing them over so they have what seems like insurmountable conflicts to overcome both internally and externally. So, for this book, Alexandra’s assault was the most difficult thing to get through, and boy did I enjoy being able to help Piers put her back together, because he was just the perfect hero for her. Tender, empathetic, a good sense of humor, and a large dose of protective alphaness.

Q: Why do you write historical romance?

A:  I’ve always romanticized the past. I can’t help it. I love the pace and the aesthetic, the gowns and the suits and the manners and the manors. I love to do historical research and it’s so fun to see how much we are influenced by the past and how, even though so much has changed through the centuries, people really haven’t. Also, it’s fun to play with language, mystery, and sex in a time when a scandal was still possible. *wink.

Q: Is there another particular author that inspires you or that you enjoy reading?

A: There is a LIST! I would say in historical romance, though, it’s always always Lisa Kleypas. She has a grasp on the characterization of historical folks that I can never hope to attain. I’m just in awe of her every word.

Q: Where do you go or what resources do you use to make sure your novels are historically correct?

A: I love to find books about a time period at B&N or my local bookshops. I go to Harper’s Bazaar for fashion, and a slew of Victorian references for the time period. I do read blogs and sometimes consult with historians and experts.

Q: Did you learn anything surprising while researching for this novel?

A: Many things! I learned how truly difficult it was to attain an education as a woman as little as a hundred years ago. It’s really incredible how far we’ve come in a century.

Q: What do you do when faced with writer’s block, if you ever are?

A: Oh man. I often am. I usually try to shake it loose with a brainstorming conversation with a few friends I have who always seem to be able to unstick me. I rely heavily on the creativity of others as well as my own.

Q: How did you feel the first time you realized one of your books was a big success?

A: I didn’t believe it. It seems surreal every time I truly realize that a story I wrote entertained another human. Let alone more than one. I’m like… they paid to read it? WHAT?

Q: What’s next for the Devil You Know series?

A: I’m especially excited for the next book ALL SCOT AND BOTHERED because it’s about Alexandra’s best friend the curvy vicar’s daughter, Cecelia Teague. She inherits London’s most infamous and successful brothel, and one imposing, surly Scottish enemy along with it. She and Lord Ramsay, the Lord Chief Justice with an axe to grind against her establishment, can’t be in a room together without the sparks flying. I can’t think about this book without smiling.

Q: Is there anything else you’d like to add?

A: I hope you enjoy this trio of roguish redheads as much as I enjoyed writing them!

Somehow I had never read Kerrigan Byrne… I saw How to Love a Duke in Ten Days and I just loved everything about it and wanted to read. OMG have I been missing out! I need to grab everything this author has written!

As soon as I opened the book and started page one I was swept away. Her words held me captive as I read the story of Lady Alexandra Lane.

I loved how Alexandra was portrayed — an amazingly strong woman who is broken and hiding things from her past. To me this is what makes us human. It is life — our struggles, our fears, the cracks in our armor that shape us into strong people. My heart broke for Alexandra’s fears, her experiences at the same time that it was healed by how hard she fought for herself. I loved the relationship she forged with the Duke of Redmayne. How they learned to trust each other and move forward. And seriously her friends! I want more!

This was a beautiful story that handled the ‘me too’ movement with skill and grace. It was a book that both ripped at my heart and gave me hope. It is a book that will stay with me!

The Midwinter Mail-Order Bride by Kati Wilde

    The Dead Lands #1; Mail-Order Brides #4

Some might call Princess Anja of Ivermere brave for offering herself up as a bride to Kael the Conqueror, a barbarian warlord who’d won his crown by the bloodied edge of his sword. It was not courage that drove Anja from her magic-wielding family’s enchanted palace, however, but a desperate attempt to secure a kingdom of her own—even if she has to kill the Conqueror to do it. She expects pain beneath his brutal touch as she awaits her chance. She expects death if he discovers the truth of her intentions.

She didn’t expect Kael to reject her and send her back to Ivermere.

Raised in the ashes of the Dead Lands, Kael fears nothing—certainly not the beautiful sorceress who arrives at his mountain stronghold. But no matter how painful his need for her, Kael has no use for a bride who would only tolerate his kiss. Yet the more of Anja’s secrets he uncovers during their journey to return her home, the more determined he becomes to win the princess’s wary heart.

And Kael the Conqueror has never been defeated…

I wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I picked up The Midwinter Mail-Order Bride. I knew that I absolutely LOVED the cover but I never read the blurb so I had no idea what was waiting around the cover for me. What I found was a fantastic fantasy world full of barbarians, strong women, monsters and magic.
I fell for the characters in this story. Kael may be a fearsome barbarian but when he loves he does it with all of him. Anja may have embarked on her journey with the intent to kill but love knocks her off balance in the process.

I loved the world building that took place here. It was well developed but didn’t overwhelm the story. I am truly eager to revisit this world again.

I am not one who typically highlights while reading, but Kati Wilde’s prose about magic had me saving tons. I loved her take on magic. Essentially how casting spells for personal gain becomes cruel magic but the purest most powerful magic is love, kindness and courage.

What is magic but an unseen force that works change upon the world? That is what kindness does.

“Love and kindness are the most powerful of all magics—and not only for the one who gives, but also for whom the magic is bestowed upon. So love is nothing to dread or fear.”

I found these to be such an interesting take on magic. And can not get these thoughts out of my head. I am such a strong believer in spreading kindness and joy. In making sure to find some joy and kindness every day. For me it is what makes it worth it to wake up and face each day. Looking at it as magic, as “an unseen force that works change upon the world,” takes it to a much grander scale. And was such a valuable take away from this book.

The Midwinter Mail-Order Bride was a slow burn yet passionate fantasy that I couldn’t put down.

    Academy of Misfits

I’m the kid your parents warned you about…

Eighteen months in prison or doing time at Oceanside Academy.
Reform school has met its match in me, even if it is full of young offenders. Thieves, graffiti writers, drug runners and other petty criminals reside within the walls, and I’m just like them.
But what they didn’t tell me was that I’d be one of only a handful of girls in a hoard full of boys. It’ll take more than just street smarts to keep my wits about me.
Everyone here has a chip on their shoulders, and I’m no different. Mine’s one of the biggest, that’s why they call me Asia because I have one as large as a continent.
Rules or not, these bad boys are about to discover I’ve earned my label for reason…
I’m the biggest misfit of them all.

I have been eagerly anticipating this book since the characters were teased in Symphony and it more than lived up to my hopes and expectations.
Delinquent is a gritty, dark, academy, bully romance. (Did I throw enough at you there?) Really there are so many tropes that can be covered here as there are quite a few relationships that develop in this book.

You know that mistake you often make? The one where you open a book late at night and think — it’s ok, I’ll only read a chapter or two. And then you get sucked into a world that you just don’t want to leave. Yeah that was me here! I opened it just to start and the next thing I knew the book was over and I was craving the next book. I want to know everything possible about these captivating characters. I NEED to know what happens next.

Oceanside is an Academy of Misfits. (see what I did there? 😉) One last chance instead of prison. A place for kids who most of society has already given up on. These are kids who have lived on the streets, kids who have had to fight to stay alive. So naturally not everyone gets along at all. The kids here are T.O.U.G.H.

But don’t underestimate our heroine, Asia. This is one scrappy, strong woman. She can more than hold her own. I loved that we got to see her tough as nails side and also see the soft interior she hides underneath. Watching her start to make female friends for the first time made me so happy. I can’t wait to see more of Pink and Kate.

And OMG the boys. Can we take a minute to appreciate the HAF boys that come into Asia’s life — Eastern, Sonny, Ford & Camden. No wonder this is #whychoose — each boy has something about him that makes me want to swoop in and give him a great big hug. None of these guys have had an easy life. And I am rooting and rooting for them to make a better life for themselves.

Delinquent is a gritty, raw tale of survival — teens caught up in a cutthroat world finding whatever way they can to make it day to day. This book wrenched my heart wide open. I want to be able to save everyone!

I can’t wait to see where Bea Paige takes this tale!
