I’m just gonna tell y’all right from the start that I loved this book. Absolutely, positively LOVED it. Didn’t think I could love it more than the other books in the Wrecked and Ruined series, but I did!
If you’ve read the other books (which in my opinion, is totally necessary), then you know what a giant task Aly Martinez had in getting us to love Sarah. Let’s face it- Sarah had some ‘splainin’ to do. Like, a lot. I really didn’t see how she could possibly redeem herself after her actions in Changing Course and Stolen Course. But after reading Broken Course, I really like her and quite possibly even love her. I’m proud of the person that she’s become– smart, beautiful, witty, confident, and strong. She’s finally getting comfortable in the skin she’s in and ready to start a new life for herself.
Now, Leo, I was in love with right off the bat. He is the epitome of a perfect, hot alpha male- very loyal and protective of those he loves, gorgeous, and an A+ dirty talker (sometimes even in Spanish ). If you’ve read Among the Echoes (again, I totally recommend reading it before this book), then you know that his past is no pretty picture either. He’s still struggling to move on from some pretty horrific experiences of his own.
So you wouldn’t think that these two would work well together, considering the loads of baggage they have combined. But when Sarah and Leo meet, they have an instant connection and they become pretty much inseparable. What ensues is a beautifully unique love story full of forgiveness, acceptance, redemption, and passion. They find what they needed in each other, and with all of their broken pieces become whole.
Broken Course was a perfect conclusion to the Wrecked and Ruined series– giving Sarah & Leo their story while tying in all of the other beloved characters, giving them all the happily ever after that they deserved and more than earned. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent with us, Aly Martinez. This series is one of my very favorites and one I won’t soon forget. I can’t wait to see what you’ll bring us next!
