The mischievous glimmer in his eyes speaks volumes, and I—never being one to back down from a challenge—immediately slide the straps of my dress off my shoulders, studying his face as the fabric falls to the ground. Unsure of what to expect with him, since pretty much everything he’s said and done thus far contradicts what I consider to be the norm for guys, I wait for him to say something. However, instead of using words, he speaks with actions. Quirking his brow up as to ask for permission, I nod in response, knowing exactly what he wants to do. He closes the gap between us and lifts his large hands up, splaying them across my belly. Lightly, his thumbs stroke back and forth, caressing the stretched skin, our gazes locked on where our bodies meet.

“Fucking beautiful,” he hisses under his breath.

I tear my gaze from his hands, peer up at him through my lashes, and offer a faint smile. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Leo. And don’t curse around my baby,” I say, playfully slapping his chest, breaking us free from the heavy moment. Too many feels are happening, and I can’t afford to do feels. “Now it’s your turn. Strip for me, old man.”

His hands leave my body, accompanied by a scowl. “You are beautiful and I’m not old.” Then, he swiftly pulls his t-shirt over his head and tosses it on top of the blanket.

I laugh and roll my eyes, trying desperately not to gawk at his very toned and very tan torso, but as usual, I fail epically. The tattoo of a lion’s profile inked across his left pec catches my attention instantly, and without his permission, I reach up and trace it with my fingertip, closely studying the intricate design. Entwined into the tendrils of the mane, a quote is hidden: Courage without conscious is a wild beast.

“Now that is fucking beautiful,” I murmur softly. “Tell me what it means.”

Bringing his forefinger up under my chin, he tilts my head so I’m staring into his smiling eyes. “Maybe later, and don’t curse around the baby, young lady.”

“Touché,” I reply with a grin. Tou-fucking-ché.

★★★★★FIVE STARS for Leo!

As the Dawn Breaks is the second book (1.5) in Erin Noelle’s Dusk Til Dawn series. If you have not read the first book in the series, When the Sun Goes Down, stop reading this review and go do that now! Because #1 It’s awesome, #2 this review will contain spoilers from book one, and #3 you’ll understand and enjoy As the Dawn Breaks so much better having read it first.

Okay, so now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk about why you need to read As the Dawn Breaks. Because #1 Leo, #2 Leo, and #3 LEO!!! I mean, obviously there’s many other reasons why this book is awesome, but holy moly guacamole, LEO ROCKED MY WORLD!

At the end of When the Sun Goes Down, my heart was broken for Leo. I was completely happy with the way the story ended and I loved Lucca (a lot), but I wanted Leo to get the happily-ever-after that he deserved! He loved and took care of Katrina with such selfless devotion and intensity, I just knew once he found his match the story would be epic. And, let me tell you, it WAS!

As the Dawn Breaks opens with a recount of what really happened the night that Leo paid a visit to Katrina’s father. I gotta tell you, in all the ways it could have gone down, THAT is not the way I pictured it! Talk about starting off with a bang!

Two years later finds Leo returning from his self-imposed exile to attend Katrina and Lucca’s wedding.

“I’ve flown halfway across the globe to watch the love of my life marry the love of hers.”

He’s resigned himself to the fact that he will never find love or have a family of his own. Until he meets someone at the wedding that makes him want all of the things he thinks he doesn’t deserve to have. He convinces himself that he can still at least spend some time with her before he has to go back home to his lonely island.

“I haven’t even looked at any other women in…longer than is care to admit, but this one… From the moment I noticed her sassy little self, I’ve needed to taste those plump, rosy lips, and I know damn well that once I start, I won’t be able to stop at just her mouth, even if it is just one time.”

Trystan is the most beautiful and captivating girl Leo has ever met. But she has her own issues that make having a relationship with anyone, even the irresistible Leo, next to impossible. But Leo won’t take no for an answer.

Will they be able to settle for just one weekend together? Or will that be enough once they get a taste of how good it could be?

Though I wish Leo’s story was longer, Erin Noelle packed a lot of passion in this novella. I absolutely loved As the Dawn Breaks, even more so than When the Sun Goes Down, and highly recommend it! Cannot wait to see what Erin Noelle will bring us next!

Leo! Oh my goodness, Leo! I loved this story so much. I was absolutely in love with the way When The Sun Goes Down ended but so desperately wanted to know more about Leo. In WTSGD we saw how protective of Kat Leo truly is, but the prologue in ATDB was still worthy of earning a gasp from me when I read it. And this is where I fell hard for Leo. “If you’ve ever truly loved someone and willingly walked a away from that person, only then can you understand the shattered pile of ruin my heart was in.” His story was so beautiful and heart wrenching – my heart broke for him in how he loved Katrina. It was a without fault, genuine, and deep. The deep love that makes you see just how strong a person is. Leo loves fiercely – with his entire being and watches over and protects those who are lucky enough to be loved by him.

Leo and Trystan meet and their first “date” is nothing short of interesting. There’s a strong connection and Leo feels like he could easily feel more for her, but there’s some big obstacles in their way. We see the kind of man he is, jealous, possessive but still sweet and kind. Trystan is adorable and flirty but strong and smart. At the end of their date, they both love and hate the sunrise they share together. It will forever change the way they wake up every day. Unfortunately the timing isn’t right and Leo has to leave but when a few years later, when they cross paths, there’s no stopping either of their hearts from falling hard again.

I can’t say enough how much Erin touched my heart with this story. Leo’s own heart break but healing from Trystan is powerful and sexy and just beautiful. A perfect follow up that I loved every minute of.
