Dear reader:
Congratulations on purchasing the Awkward Sex Anthology! A bunch of amazing authors in a group called FTN (We could tell you what this means, but then we’d have to kill you) got together to write the most awkward sex scenes you could imagine, all for charity. You might be thinking to yourself, “I can’t believe I just bought a book called F*cking Awkward” and I’m here to tell you, it’s much better than the titles that were rejected:
F*cking Toasters
F*cking Goats
F*cking a Box of Captain Crunch
F*cking a T-Rex While Playing the Trumpet
F*cking My Best Friend’s Neighbor’s Stepsister’s Starbucks Manager While Wearing a Toga
F*cking a Toga
I’m just kidding! Nobody wrote a story about f*cking a goat! It was a wombat, actually, and no one pressed charges, so it’s fine. The author is fine, the wombat is fine, EVERYONE IS FINE AND I DIDN’T NEED THERAPY SO STOP LOOKING AT ME LIKE THAT.
Did you know that six out of every seven people in the entire world have experienced an awkward sexual encounter? It’s true. I’ve done extensive research. And by extensive, I mean I did a poll of all the adults in my house – 2 dogs, 3 cats, and my husband and I. I’m pretty sure my dog Fat Ralph was lying when he told me he’d never experienced anything awkward during sex, but he had his nuts cut off when he was six weeks old and is still quite bitter about the whole thing and threatens me with a dog bone shank whenever we chat about sex, so I think it’s 4 best if I stop questioning him about the time I found him in the backyard with a jar of peanut butter, two frogs and the neighbor’s cat wearing pasties.
The cat was the one wearing pasties, FYI, not Fat Ralph. That would just be weird.
So, grab some booze, sit back, and enjoy these hilariously awkward sex scenes. Give yourself a pat on the back for purchasing a book for charity and another one for never experiencing something as crazy as what you’re about to read. Unless you have. In that case, it’s okay to cry and rock back and forth in the corner screaming, “IT WAS ONLY THAT ONE TIME AND I HAD NO IDEA I WASN’T SUPPOSED TO PUT THAT CUCUMBER THERE!” Six out of seven of us totally understand. Except for Fat Ralph. He’s totally judging you right now.

Young beautiful couple are kissing on the beach

Excerpt

“Didn’t you want to talk about food?”

“Yes. I did.” He regarded me silently for a moment, as if trying to decide whether or not to press the issue of the plane. Whatever he saw in my face must have convinced him to drop it. “The assignment today revolves around the sensuality of food and eating and capturing the moment, but not making it look like a cow chewing on cud. There’s a fine line.”

“Assignment?” I put my fork down, smoothed my napkin across my lap while I took a deep breath. “Am I some sort of charity case here? What’s up with the lessons and assignments? I thought we’d both already been hired to do a job?” My voice rose toward the end along with my temper.

Nick took a long swallow of his coffee. “We have. And you’re right, normally I wouldn’t work with a colleague this way. But I see hidden potential in you — raw talent that needs some refinement. What you do is good, very good in fact. You have a great eye, but your emotional range is a little stunted. Everything you do is bright, cheery, soft. There’s so much more to explore. Shadowed, dark, moody, seduc—”

“What’s that got to do with food?”

“Seriously? If you don’t see the connection between food and intimacy, we have more work to do than I thought.”

My eyes narrowed in warning.

“Look at the buffet behind me. Take the bread for instance. Notice how the baguettes are displayed upright, with the smaller, round rolls in front. Cocks and balls.”

I choked on the coffee I was sipping.

“Check out the fruit. If you don’t see the ripe curves of breasts within that arrangement, you’re blind.”

A reluctant smile tugged at my mouth.

“And the thick sausage links — they’re bratwurst size. That’s some thick meat. You think that’s a coincidence? Not one bit. The whipped cream they’re so eager to top everything with? Should I continue?”

“Does everything go back to sex for you?”

He paused. “No. It’s not a me thing. It’s human nature. We’re wired to respond to sex on a primal level. It’s natural to crave it, be drawn to it, respond to it. What’s smart is using that to your advantage, employing it either subtly or overtly to hold someone’s attention, even if they don’t realize that’s why something is aesthetically pleasing. It’s the most basic, and effective, of marketing strategies.”

“So you’re telling me my lessons with you will somehow or another all pretty much revolve around sex?”

He grinned. “Absolutely.”

Soaked Teaser #8

Excerpt

When the plane began its taxi to the runway, he gripped the armrests tightly, dislodging my elbow in the process.

“Sorry,” he gritted out.

“Nervous?”

“Nope.”

I raised my eyebrows.

He grimaced. “Scared shitless is a better description.”

I bit my lip so I wouldn’t smile, but he saw the small motion.

“Most plane crashes occur within two minutes of takeoff. Once we’re in the air, I’ll be fine. It’s just those first two minutes.”

He braced himself with his feet, his thighs flexing under his gray pants.

“Talk to me. Distract me.” His eyes pleaded with me, belaying the gruff tone to his voice.

“Ummm. Okay.” I paused, my mind blank. “Are you single?”

What the fuck? Where had that question come from?

“Yes. You?”

I clenched my jaw, turned away for a second. “Yup. Very.”

His eyes narrowed as he observed me. “What’d he do?”

“What?”

“What’d the idiot do?”

“He was an idiot.” I shrugged.

“Clearly.”

Shaking my head, I turned the question back on him. “What about you? Why are you single?”

“I travel a lot for work. It makes it hard.”

That word. I couldn’t help my eyes from flicking down to his crotch.

The muscles in his arm relaxed as he laughed at me. “Yeah, it can be a problem sometimes. But I handle it.”

I coughed. Did he mean what I thought?

The laugh lines around his eyes deepened as he struggled to keep a straight face.

“Is it a problem that comes up a lot?” What the fuck was wrong with me this morning? I blamed my lack of filter on my way-too-early-in-the-morning drink.

He kept his voice serious. “Just morning and night.”

I snickered and he relaxed the rest of the way, his knuckles no longer white against the armrest.

“I’ve mastered some coping techniques. I could teach you. You may need them in the future, if you run into any more idiots.”

I blinked. Damn, he was bold. I looked down where his hand rested between us, unconsciously checking out his fingers. Long and lean. Surprisingly lean for such a broad guy.

“I’ve had a lot of experience—”

“I’m sure you have,” I interrupted.

“… and it’d be a shame for all that knowledge to just go to waste,” he finished.
