The Judge Bates House is a historic mansion in Houston, Mississippi, U.S.. It was built from 1845 to 1850for J.C. Keeney. It was sold to William Stout Bates in January 1864, in the midst of the American Civil War of 1861-1865. Judge Bates served in the Confederate States Army during the war. His grandson, Winfield Bates Tabb, who served as the mayor of Houston from 1925 to 1928, lived in the house. The house stayed in the Bates family until 1981. I’m just a girl who likes to daydream. Sometimes I write them down to share. Even as a little girl teachers would tell my parents I live in a world of my own. The literary world was my safe haven. Then we grow up. I practiced medicine in the ER and urgent care for the last 15 years. I started writing again while still working in the ER but put it aside when we opened our own clinic. Until last year my husband and I owned our own practice, we had two children and lived a somewhat normal life. Then in the span of a year we sold our practice, bought a 96 acre farm in the hills of West Virginia and adopted 3 of our patients ( ages 2,3,4) bringing our kid count up to five. It has been a crazy year full of ups and downs and learning to laugh at ourselves. Being mostly brought up in the city, managing a working farm with real farm creatures and ever lurking bears has been an adventure. Not to mention adjusting to being a mom of FIVE. But when things are rough I just laugh and tell stories. Because at the end of the day sometime laughter and love is all you have. Somewhere in the midst of kids and chickens, I managed to finish my first novel and dive deeply into the second. Writing at night or early in the morning while all the littles are asleep lets me escape into another world. I hope that you will enjoy the journey of the story as much as I have writing it. Pursue your dreams as if limits to your abilities do not exist.

“I can’t go on with him when all I can think about is you,” I finally confess. “I need you out of my life.”

Silence fills the room. All I can see is him, so close to me. He doesn’t look at me—his gaze lingers on my dress, those long lashes hiding his emotions. I don’t know what he’s thinking. His breath is hot on me, and I want more. He presses a hand softly against my hip and melts me to my core. I want him to say something. I want him to tell me he doesn’t want to see me with David. I want him to be angry, to feel something.

But he’s so damn calm.

Until…

Finally, he looks up at me, his gaze slowly reaching mine. In his eyes I see anger, hurt, and… desire. He raises his hand to my cheek and touches it. So softly I barely feel it. He runs his free hand through my hair and tugs at my clip, pulling my hair. It hurts, but it also feels so good. He throws the clip to the floor. His fingers are feverish when they get lost in the tangles of my hair. With one hand on my hip, the other twisted in my locks, he presses me hard against the door. His mouth—heated, rough, and wild—lands on mine.

My entire being surrenders to him. He’s so powerful. One press of his hot wet lips and I abandon all my plans. I want to live this moment. If just for a minute, for a second.

I need him.

I open my mouth, wanting more. He tastes like beer, but I love it. I reach for his face. The rough feel of his unshaven jaw scratches my palm. Still, it’s not close enough. I explore further. I want more of him. My hands travel up and get tangled in his soft hair as we deepen the kiss, our mouths hungry, desperate. He grabs my ass and hikes me up as his hips push into me. He growls softly when I bite his bottom lip gently. I feel us falling. Out of control.

I came here to end this, and it’s only brought us closer. To this moment. If we do this, we can’t go back. We need to stop. I know we need to stop, but I can’t seem to pull away. He feels so good. The heat rushing through me, the pressure at my core, the desperate craving. But if we do this, I’ll never get over him. I know it.

And I think about Maggie. What about her?

I moan as I finally manage to tear my mouth from his. I press my hand against his chest, gasping.

He catches his breath and his beautiful eyes, pooling with desire, almost draw me back in. His gaze falls. He knows I can’t do this, that we shouldn’t do this. “I’m sorry.”

Two simple words. Unneeded. I know he’s sorry. I’m sorry too. I’m sorry I came here. I’m sorry I don’t want David. I’m sorry Aiden is the one I crave. I’m sorry I’m falling apart. I’m sorry my plan is in shatters. “I should go.”

He studies me for the longest time, his eyes taking me in wholly: my heavy eyes, my trembling lips, my wandering hands—I’m still touching him. I can’t seem to pull away.

He reaches for my hair, and slowly, softly, he pulls it behind my ear. Then he leans into me, his breath hot on my neck, and he presses his mouth there, sending me to heaven. “I don’t think you really came here tonight to end things with me, Amber.”

I close my eyes, at a loss for words. He’s right.

He trails his hands softly over my hips and down the skirt of my dress. “I think you’re looking for something else altogether. I think you’re restless.” He toys with the hem of my little black dress. His hands explore under it, and the feel of his touch against my bare skin arouses me so much I can barely breathe. “When was the last time you were touched?”

His question catches me by surprise. He’s seducing me wholeheartedly. I just say, “Don’t stop.”

He slowly slips his hand higher up the inside of my thigh and reaches the lace fabric of my panties. “You look fucking amazing.”

His fingers press against my sex, and all the while, he watches me, taking in my reaction. Do I want him to go on? He knows I do. He slides his hands slowly under my soft flowy dress, and I almost melt under his touch. His fingers travel up to my stomach, teasing me. He traces soft, slow circles around my navel and makes me shiver. The sensation of his gentle fingers on my skin makes my core heavy and hot, makes my sex swell and pound. Damn.

I think about Maggie again. “We can’t… what about Maggie?”

His hand stills. “Maggie and I are not together. We were never together.”

A heavy weight seems to lift from me. “But you said…”

He fixes me with dark eyes. “I know what I said. I lied. You’re the only one. The only one I think about, the only one I want.”

I want to kiss him again. I want him inside me. I should pull away, but I can’t. I physically can’t. He can’t stop. Almost as if he can read my mind, he explores further. As his touch travels back to the inside of my thigh, I spot a hint of a smile.

He loves this.

I force myself to look away because . . . well, because he’s a stranger. In my house. Naked. And oh my God, something is wrong with me, because I’m not running and calling 911 like I should.

When his chuckle subsides, he brings his head back down, so I can see the tears in his eyes from laughter. “That thing is my cock, and since this is my bathroom and you seem to be attempting to seduce me in my house, I don’t think you have any right to tell me what to do.” And with that, he leans a hip against the counter and folds his arms across his chest, eyes locked on mine and one eyebrow lifted. Everything else is left hanging out there in the wind.

“Your house? Seduce you?” At that point I realize I’m sputtering and shaking my head. “This is my house. You’re in my house.”

Confusion drifts across his face and his jaw falls lax. “Hold up.” He lifts his hands in the hold on a minute position, drawing my eyes back to where they don’t want to be. If this whole situation weren’t so unbelievable, it would be comical, and yet as true as that is, I don’t seem to be laughing at all. “I think there seems to be some misunderstanding.”

“No shit.” Sarcasm is my fallback and it doesn’t disappoint me now. A lot of good it does me, though, as I’m still doing the naked dance while trying to react to this surreal situation.

The look of disdain he gives me at my comment earns him no points in my book. “While I’m digging the socks with your outfit,” he says with a smirk, eyes veering down and then back up to my strategically placed hands, “you should cover up.” I catch the towel he tosses me and immediately wrap it around myself. I’m certain my mismatching knee-high socks make a statement about me, but I’m beyond caring, because I’m still alone in my house with a strange man and have no answers as to how this has happened.

With one hand clutching onto the towel at my collarbone, I use the other to motion to him. “You too.”

A lightning flash of a grin glances across his lips. “Sorry, but you just took the only towel left.”

She watched Keane take in the two newest Christmas trees, one in front of O’Riley’s Pub, the other in front of Reclaimed Woods, both decorated in simple red and gold balls. The only sound around them was the soft trickle of the water flowing from the fountain and some lovelorn crickets mourning the dawn’s lack of warmth.

“Legend states that if you make a wish with a true heart, true love will find you,” she said.

He met her gaze. “Legend also states that if you put your tooth under your pillow the Tooth Fairy will leave you cash.”

She slowed, as always the fountain calling to her to make a wish. Keane slowed too, looking at her with a question.

She searched her pockets for change, but could only come up with a dog treat. “Damn.” It was the swear jar’s fault, all her spare change always ended up in there.

“What?”

“I wanted to make a wish,” she said.

A small smile crossed his face. “You want to make a wish? You’ve lived here for how long and you’ve never made one?”

“Oh, I have.” She paused. “I like to.”

This garnered her a raised brow. “How many times have you wished?”

She bit her lower lip.

“More than once?”

Well, crap. How had they gotten on this subject? “Um…”

“More than…five?”

“Gee, would you look at the time?” she asked and tried to go but he caught her and brought her back around, his smile now a broad grin.

“Fine,” she said. “If you must know, I toss a coin in every time I walk by.”

He lost the battle with his laughter and she stared at him. Seriously, he had the best laugh. “It worked for Pru, I’ll have you know,” she told him. “She wished for true love to find Finn, and then he fell in love with her.”

And Willa had been wishing ever since, even knowing how ridiculous and silly it was.

“So…you’ve been wishing for true love for who exactly?” he asked.

She stared at him in dismay. How had she not thought this through? “Me,” she admitted, slapping her pockets because surely she had even a penny. “But I intend to fix that right now. I’ll just wish for love for someone else.”

“Who?” he asked warily.

She narrowed her eyes at his fear. “You. Got any change?”

Let’s back up.

How did we get from not kissing to kissing? What was that turning point? Did she lean into me? Did I move closer to her? Details matter. I’ll gladly share them.

Start with six months of sexual tension. Add in two mojitos for her, two beers for me, and a couple vodka tonics. Stir that with some bad news on the business front, and top it with the cherry of Natalie’s hit-me-over-the-head-with-a-stick comment that left no question as to what she wanted…and here I am.

We don’t lean into each other. There’s no inch-by-slow-sensual-inch pull. It’s not a slow burn.

It’s a fiery crash. We’re two cars speeding on the highway of this night, and we slam into each other, crawl across the hoods, and kiss like crazy.

Nothing is tentative about this. We go from not kissing to kissing in less than sixty nanoseconds. Yeah, I don’t really know what a nanosecond is, either. But it happens in no time.

And now my hand is in her hair, yanking her close as we crush our lips together. We kiss hard and rough, fueled by pent-up desire and more than enough vodka and rum to make this inevitable.

Her teeth scrape me, and I growl, loving her roughness. I suck hard on her bottom lip, and I’m rewarded by nearly the same sound from her. She’s like a tiger, and together we’re animals.

I grip her head tighter, and her hands are all over me—in my hair, then down my chest, then along my arms. We kiss so deeply, it’s like we’re trying to climb each other.

At some point, she breaks off, breathes out hard, then whispers in my ear, “I’ve wanted to do that for so long.”

“Not as long as I have. Now get those lips back on mine,” I tell her, and she complies.

My hands cup her cheeks, but I’m not gentle, and she doesn’t want me that way. She’s not a gentle girl. She’s badass and tough, and she wants what I want. I hold her face tightly in my hands, and she practically crawls into my lap in a rush to get closer, then closer still as she presses her tits against my chest.

I’m seated on a stool at the bar, and we are putting on some kind of show. But I don’t care.

My tongue searches and hunts, wanting to taste every corner of her mouth, savoring the vodka and the tonic and, most of all, the Natalie. She whimpers and moans, and I swallow every sexy sound she makes.

This stool is ours. This bar is ours. The night belongs to this kiss, because it’s not a starter kiss. It contains all the clues necessary to assemble the puzzle of where this night will end.

With unwavering certainty, I know what kind of kiss this is.

As I explore her mouth, and she claims mine with equal urgency, I know that I will be fucking Natalie tonight.

I was so excited to get my hands on this book. Lauren Blakely delivers another amazingly sexy romantic comedy with Well Hung.

I think one of my favorite things about Lauren Blakey’s romantic comedies is the way I just feel like I am sitting on the couch with my absolutely stunning, too-hot-to-handle, witty, interesting, best friend… as he tells me all about his life. Like no joke! I get lost in her books because I read them feeling as if my friend is spilling his guts to me. Now don’t get me wrong, there were times I wanted to take a hammer to my friend Wyatt’s head and knock some sense into him. (Trust me, you will too.) But I got him. I got his insecurities. And I just felt like he and Natalie were meant to be! And let’s face it.. they were smoking’ hot together. Their banter was AMAZING! Their chemistry could melt the screen right off of your ereader. The roller coaster? The pinball machine? And can we talk the sex? Let’s all take a moment to fan ourselves shall we…. oh wait – you haven’t read it yet? go, go, go and one click this baby! I promise you, it will make you happy, maybe a little excited… but it will definitely be worth your time!

Lauren Blakely takes a trope that we have all read, an office romance and makes it feel fresh and alive. Both of the characters are strong, yet they also both have vulnerabilities and insecurities. Say what? Oh… yeah.. like real live people! Imagine that? I love when characters are written like this, ya know – multidimensional, with quirks, real 😉

I highly recommend Well Hung. I am telling you this is one carpenter you do not want to miss!
