    There was nothing like it.

     

    Pulling on the reigns, I turned Black Jack and headed back to the house. She’d be here soon and I still needed to take a shower. “Let’s go boy,” I shouted as I gave Jack a bit of pressure to get him into a run.

     

    Twenty minutes later hot water was running over my body.

     

    My hands were leaning against the travertine wall as I hung my head with my eyes closed.

     

    “If that’s not the best damn site I’ve seen in awhile.”

     

    With a grin, I smiled as I felt her hands move across my wet body. “Did you miss me?” she whispered against my skin while she slowly moved her lips down my chest.

    Jill’s Review

    Kelly Elliott’s Adrenaline sure lived up to it’s name. The second book in the Speed series (but a standalone!) this was a fast-paced, addicting read that I didn’t want to put down.

    Adrenaline features Malcolm wallace, a top NASCAR driver who likes everything in his life hard, fast and bringing on that rush of adrenaline. At least until he meets Paislie Pruitt and his views on women start to shift. There is just something different about her. Malcolm is acting different than he ever has with a woman and Paislie is opening her heart. But you know the road to happiness is not going to be that smooth for this couple. There are some major bumps along the road that they will need to get through. When Malcolm hits his roadblock he ends up turning to Paislie and bringing her back into his life. Will they find a way to come together to help Malcolm? Will their closeness translate to something deeper?

    This book had it all – love, friendships, smokin’ hot sex, scenes that will tug on your heartstrings, scenes that will make you just flat out angry – you know, all the elements that keep you glued to the pages. I loved how we could see changes and growth in the characters. Watching Malcolm go from an adrenaline seeking manwhore to a romantic without even realizing it – just fueled my dreams! And Paislie, watching her battle her deep seeded insecurities to forge new relationships was so wonderful to see. And the side characters were ridiculously intriguing! I, of course, immediately went and #1clicked Ignite so I could get Emmit & Adaline’s story! And oooh what I wouldn’t give to see more from… you will know which 2 people I wanna know more about when you read – but I’m not saying so you can enjoy as I did 😉

    I definitely recommend Adrenaline! Though it is the second book in the Speed Series, you can absolutely read it alone. I did and didn’t feel lost in the slightest. It was simply put, a fantastic book that will suck you in from the very start.

    She’s going to leave me.
    That thought runs on a loop through my head, and I want to rip the house apart in my unmitigated rage. I should go back to John and Olivia and see how I can help, but losing time with her rips apart my chest worse than anything I can imagine. I want to do my duty, but I need her more than my next breath.
    She’s going to leave me.
    And I can’t remove myself from this hallway. Even when Aidan comes in behind me, I don’t move my eyes from the door separating me from the only woman I could ever want.
    “John wants you to get back to the house, Ash,” Aidan says gently from behind me, and I close my eyes to the battle waging in my head, and rest my forehead on her door.
    She’s going to leave me. One way or another. She’s going to leave.
    “I’ll make sure she stays here, but you have to go,” he says, and it takes a moment to realize I spoke my thoughts aloud. When I finally open my eyes and look at the man I’ve called a friend for so many years, he winces at the look in my eyes.
    “I swear it, Ash,” he promises, and I believe he’ll try, but nothing and no one can hold Mena if she doesn’t want to be held.
    I can only nod.
    “John needs you, Ash.”
    I stare at the door a moment longer before traveling to my King, dreading every moment I’m away from Mena. It only takes a few seconds, but it kills me, and I can’t believe John has been away from Olivia for even a minute without losing his fucking mind. How can he stand this? This clawing, gouging ache. It rips at my chest, and I have to focus all my energy on not traveling back to her. I knock on the chamber door, and I cannot fathom what I can do to help when I feel so torn in two.

    A bit about me…

    I’ve been hooked on books since I was a kid but it got worse in my twenties, when I discovered romances–the hotter, the better. Growing up in Southern California, with lots of surfer manliness surrounded me, was certainly a good boost for reading about delicious alpha guys and the women who adore them. When I learned I had a knack for telling these stories too, I guess you could say I was doomed–though my path toward romance novelist took a few detours via a concert-reviewing gig for my college newspaper (free show tickets…backstage passes…that was a no-brainer), artist interviews for a Beverly Hills dance music mag, personal assistant work for a record producer, dance club disc jockey, and a lot of fun in the hospitality industry.

    These days, I still live in California, and have found an amazing alpha guy of my own who was brave enough to marry me. We live on a street that looks like Brigadoon, with our beautiful daughter. I have the best life ever, and never forget to thank the Big Guy Upstairs for it, either.

    Ahh… Brenda Rothert’s Bennett. Love diving into sexy sports books! Even better when they have some real meat to them!

    I was intrigued by Bennett when we met him in Killian (yes this is the second book in a series, but it can easily be read as a standalone and you will not be lost!) I wanted to know more about him. And boy did his book give us a great look! Bennett is a hot and sexy hockey player for the Fenway Flyers, a minor league hockey team. He loves to play hard and fast both on and off the ice. That is until he met Charlotte. They had one hot night together that had her running and him longing for more. That is until she shows up on his doorstep and the sparks are all still there!

    *Sigh* yet another book that I don’t want to tell you too much about – well aside from what the blurb covered – because I want you to be surprised just like I was. (Come on, it is so much more fun that way!) But let’s just say Bennett and Charlotte don’t have smooth ice on their way to coming together. There will be blocks all over the place. But that is what made this such a delicious read. The story had me sucked right in and not wanting to put the kindle down!

    Charlotte was a strong independent woman, and I loved watching her grow and learn how to be a part of a couple. Bennett was sweet, lovable, incredibly hot – just everything you would be looking for in an ACTUAL MAN! And OMG the side characters were just perfect. They added and complimented the story so well (I hope we see more of them!)

    Read a Sneak Peek of SHOPPING FOR A BILLIONAIRE’S WIFE

    We are at a private airport I’ve never seen before. The sky is that glorious shade of blue that seems to deepen as you look up, with a smattering of clouds that draw the eye to them. It’s a perfect, idyllic July day in Massachusetts.

    A great day for an outdoor wedding.

    Declan and the helicopter pilot, whose name I never caught, exchange a few words in Russian before I rib my soon-to-be husband and whisper, “Would you please speak in English?”

    “Why?”

    “Why?”

    He just stares at me with that intimidatingly blank face.

    “That doesn’t work, you know,” I tell him with a pointed sneer. Or, at least, I try to sneer. I’m not so good at the sneering thing. That’s more Jessica Coffin’s area of expertise.

    He doesn’t twitch a muscle. For whatever reason, he doesn’t want me to know what he and the pilot are talking about. Fine. Fine!

    But this alpha-male dominant crap—you know, the stuff I fell in love with him for—is getting on my nerves.

    “Declan, please,” I concede.

    No change.

    The exasperated hiss that comes out of me makes my body flush with fury. “It’s our wedding day. I am supposed to be kissing you at the altar right now while the minister pronounces us husband and wife. Instead, I listened to you and went along with this crazy scheme to run off to Las Vegas and leave everyone—everyone!—behind.”

    Side note: I know that’s not true. The decision to ditch my mother was mutual. But right now, I have zero leverage, and he’s giving me that granite look like he’s an Easter Island statue, so I have to find some kind of vulnerability in him.

    I’m saving sex for the nuclear option.

    His lips purse, jaw grinding, as he finally opens his mouth and says, “No one forced you into the helicopter.”

    The words feel like knife blades against my heart, scraping lightly rather than plunging straight in. He’s right. His eyes fill with a kind of measured kindness, as if he understands I’m falling apart in stages.

    I am. The Russian thing isn’t helping.

    “Why won’t you tell me what you’re talking about with the pilot?”

    “Because it’s a surprise.”

    He can play this immutable look game for as long as he wants. Two years ago, it worked. I’ve lived with this man for nearly a year. I know him intimately now. He knows me thoroughly (though, perhaps, not as intimately as his mother’s engagement ring knows me, but let’s not go there…).

    I leave.

    Turning away from him and bumbling out of the helicopter in my tartan-and-white monstrosity of a gown isn’t easy, but I accomplish the near-impossible and disembark without assistance. I’m a good twenty feet toward a metal-sided building at this tiny airport before he grips my elbow.

    “Shannon, stop.”

    I keep walking.

    “Shannon, I said stop.” His voice is an emotionless growl. He sounds like a CIA agent barking orders.

    The catcalls continue, the voices more numerous.

    “Why?” I continue, giving him a taste of his own medicine. I can be cool and composed. I can show no more emotion than a cucumber. I can be neutral and blank, slack and granite, a sophisticated ice queen who gives nothing away.

    He stands behind me, a wall of heat pressing against my back, hands on my elbows and stopping me from proceeding. Declan leans down over my shoulder, his lips brushing against my ear, and says:

    “Because part of the back of your dress is tucked into your tartan thong.”

    Oh, crap.
