Excerpt:
What a way to make a first impression. Casting a glare at her friend, Honor said, âShush it. And for heavenâs sake, stop staring!â
âToo late.â Lexie quickly fluffed her short pale blond hair and adjusted the V-neck of her shirt, tugging it a tad lower. âTheyâre coming this way.â
âOh God.â After a deep breath, Honor put the truck in park, turned it off, andâokay, she needed one more breath. âRoll up your window. Pretend you donât see them. Maybe if we rush into the house real fast, theyâll leave us aloââ
âHello.â
Cringing, Honor glanced toward Lexieâand found all three men peering into the truck at them. They were each so tall they had to duck down to see in. One guy wore a T-shirt, one a polo, and the other wore no shirt at all.
Combined they gave the impression of masculine curiosity, dark hair and beard shadow. Two of them grinned, and those grins had definite impact.
But the intense expression on the shirtless one about stole Honorâs breath.
She blinked and stared, blinked and stared. Repeat.
The youngest of the three, the one in a T-shirt, laughed. âBusted. No sneaking off now.â
âColt,â the unsmiling man said in a low, deep voice that teased over her nerve endings and made her heart race. âPick up the can and spilled garbage, will you?â
Colt grinned. âYes, sir.â And off he wentâwith Lexie craning her neck to track him.
The smiling guy propped a shoulder against the side of the window frame and crossed his arms over his chest. With a warning in his tone, said, âHeâs seventeen.â
âWho?â Lexie asked.
âMy son.â He nodded toward Colt. âJust so you know.â
Jaw dropping, Lexie took another look. âNo way. Does Clearbrook have testosterone in the water or something? He looks at least twenty-one.â
Shrugging a thick shoulder, the guy said, âTrue enough.â Heat shot into Honorâs cheeks. This situation just kept getting worse and worse. Not only had she taken out their can and been overheard conspiring to avoid them, but now Lexie gawked at an underage kid, never mind that the âkidâ did look a whole lot older.
âAs his dad,â the man continued, âit keeps me on my toes.â
âYou sure youâre his dad?â Lexie looked back and forth between both men. âBecause he looks more likeââ
âMy brother,â he interrupted. âI know. Jason got Dadâs eyes, and so did Colt.â
Brothers? Honor took another lookâand caught Shirtless looking back. She swallowed.
âBet your dadâs a stud, too, huh?â
âLexie!â
After winking at Honor, Coltâs father met Lexieâs gaze. âWe all inherited his features.â
True, Honor thought. Though the one talking appeared just under six feet, and Cold had to be at least six-three, they shared similar features and overall coloring. Only the eye color was different, with the fatherâs eyes pale blue instead of the rich dark brown of his son and brother. The shape was the same though, and they each had ridiculously long, dreamy black lashes.
Without really thinking about it, Honor said, âYou donât look old enough to be his dad.â
He shrugged. âI was just out of high school. Call it a youthful indiscretion that Iâve never regretted.â
Honor smiled, enjoying his pride in Coltâuntil she realized that his brotherâs eyes had narrowed, not with menace, but with new awareness as he stared at her mouth.
She couldnât recall the last time a man had looked at her like that. Mightâve been, ohâŚnever.
Review
Lori Foster’s Don’t Tempt Me had me from the very beginning!
Right form the start I was flipping those pages and wishing that I had a new home to move into with sexy ass neighbors! The characters were depicted so well, that it made me feel as if I knew them. (And I can’t wait to see even more of them!) The chemistry between them was perfect. As soon as Honor and Jason met, you could feel the tension brewing between the two. And let’s not forget to mention Lexie and Sullivan – they were fabulous! The fact that we got 2 romances in 1 was an added bonus to this book!
This is that great summer read – sweet, sexy, flirty with a huge sense of family, friends and their importance in your life.
I received a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.
