Once upon a time, he’d been my everything.
He was standing in the corner talking to one of her great aunts, holding an empty glass that my brother had kept filled with whiskey all afternoon. I wanted to help—to do something, anything, to take that dark, stormy look out of his eyes—so I asked him if he wanted to get some air.
He took my proffered hand without a word, but instead of leading me outside like I expected—maybe to the front porch for a breath of the cool February air—he towed me upstairs. And straight into the bathroom. Without a word, he pulled my black cashmere sweater off over my head.
I stood there shocked for a few seconds. This was Shaw—my former best friend and secret lifelong crush. The man who once held my heart in the palm of his hand when I was young and foolish. And he had just been through the most traumatic event of his twenty-six years—losing his wife to a drunk driver. Kendall Ryan’s Wednesday is a quick, fast-paced, hot and steamy read that will also tug on your heartstrings.
Each Wednesday we post tons of memes about Hump Day… who doesn’t like Hump Day right? I mean especially when you are actually getting humped on Wednesdays! But what if the man you are humping had been your best friend your entire life? What if he is now widowed, at 26, and suddenly can’t get enough of your body? What if you have given him everything and are ready to lay your heart on the line? What if you look into his eyes and see the guilt, the heartache, how closed off he has become? What if no one else knows it is going on but the two of you? Would you still love Hump Day?
Shaw and Chloe have been the best of friends their entire life. That is until Shaw got married and distance grew between the 2. But when Shaw is suddenly widowed he turns to his BFF for comfort and support. And by comfort and support I mean hot and heavy no-strings attached sex! Shaw is a deliciously alpha man that tells Chloe exactly what he wants from her. And it is HOTTTTTTTTT! But she is left confused and out of sorts as she desperately wants to be there for Shaw but also wants to know where they are going… if anywhere.
This novella had it all. It is a friends to lovers with a bit of forbidden love thrown in. While there is no getting around how delicious the sex scenes are, it will also touch your heart. As you watch these two struggle with what is going on and what it truly means.
I definitely recomend this book. It is the perfect way to spend a steamy afternoon… or evening!
