I have always a loved Carly Phillips’ writing. Even way back in the day before an ereader was even a thought in my mind I knew that I could pick up one of her books and enjoy a fabulous, sexy romance. And Dare to Take was just that! A quick romantic read that I lost myself in!
Dare to Take is Tyler Dare and Ella Shaw’s story. It is the sixth book in the Dare to Love story but can absolutely be read as a standalone. Honestly! I had started the series (LOVED IT) and then somehow lost it along the way 😦 and I had no issues at all reading this!
What happens when a young sexy man is home for a bit from the army and comes face to face with his sister’s best friend. Someone he has known since she is a little girl… only now she is all grown up. Still innocent and with no experience, but… wants him. She has for years. Why you end up with one night of passion that you never speak about again. (EEK) You try and keep your distance. But fate isn’t having that (or Avery the sister/BF)! As soon as she hears that Ella is stuck on an island with a hurricane on its way she turns to her brother to go and help her. Of course as soon as Tyler and ella are together again, all bets are off!
I loved watching Tyler and Ella come together and learn to trust each other and themselves. Both come into this with baggage (I know we all have it right?) But their baggage, dating back to childhood, is affecting their ability to have a successful relationship. Seeing them open up to each other and begin the process of healing and coming into themselves was such a joy. Dare to Take had the perfect blend of romance & sexiness with a dash of suspense thrown in.
I definitely recommend this book! If you are a fan of romance, second chance love stories, books with a strong sense of family, characters that grow… then you don’t want to miss out!
