Title: Resisting the Moon: A Royal Shifters Novel
Series: Royal Shifters
Author: L.P. Dover
Genre: Paranormal Romance
The past was pain.
The present unclear.
For Tyla Rand, her future couldn’t be bleaker. Death follows her everywhere, especially to those she loves. Being a member of the royal pack, she believes her time of happiness will come. That is, until wolves from her old pack show up missing. Her mission is to find them, but she won’t be going alone.
Sebastian Lyall, a true born royal and the one man Tyla loathes, has offered to help in her quest. Their journey not only brings out their true desires, but attracts the attention of another, someone from Tyla’s past. However, nothing is as it seems. Death is not done with her and now he wants her to pay. He won’t be satisfied until he’s taken everything away . . . including those she loves.
Micah rushed out of his house and joined me in the pasture. “You ready, T?”
I looked down at his hand, where he held a piece of black cloth. “What’s that for?”
Grinning wide, he walked behind me and tied it around my eyes. I couldn’t see a thing. “We’re going to spar like this today. One day, you might have to fight using only a few of your senses. I want to see how well you’ll do.”
“Great,” I grumbled. Everything grew quiet, except for the birds chirping and the wind blowing through the trees. I know I looked like an idiot standing there twiddling my thumbs. A minute passed and then another. “When are we going to start?” I asked, lifting my hands in the air. There was no reply.
I was about to rip my blindfold off when my legs were swiped out from underneath me, and I fell hard to the ground, the breath whooshing out of my lungs. I gasped for air and shouted, “You’re gonna pay for that, Lyall.”
Laughing, Micah tried to take me down again, but I was prepared and jumped out of the way. “Good job. You’re learning fast,” he praised.
I crouched low and waited for him to strike again. “I knew you’d be impressed. Now give me what you got.” He rushed by me and I tried to hit him and missed. Several times he did the same move, but he was too fast for me to catch. I can do this. Taking a deep breath, I blocked out every other sound and listened for his steps. The second I heard the whoosh of air, I went on the attack. He tried to grab me, but I side-stepped him and smacked him on the back of the head. I burst out laughing when he growled.
“Didn’t expect that, did you?” I teased.
I thought he’d throw back a cutting comment, but there was only the sound of his rapid breathing. Before I could throw another cocky comment his way, he lunged and almost knocked me down to the ground, but I caught myself and got away. His movements were more aggressive and sporadic than usual. What the hell was going on?
My thoughts made me lose focus. Micah clutched me around the waist and we toppled to the ground. I tried to fight him off, but he grabbed my wrists and held them above my head, his legs straddling my waist. I could feel his breath on my face getting hotter as his body moved closer.
“Micah, what are you doing?” He moved down over me until our chests were touching, his breath on my lips. “Stop,” I commanded. Only he didn’t. As soon as our lips connected, his power blasted into me and I couldn’t fight back; my body didn’t want to. I knew it was Sebastian. The asshole had no right!
It sure is hard to resist the wolves in LP Dover’s Resisting the Moon!
So I don’t know why I don’t read more PNR because I just absolutely love it. Like I mean once I start I can’t stop. I just lose myself in it. And LP does a great job building up this world for her books. Resisting the Moon is a standalone book, you can read this just fine and not be lost. However it is part of the Royal Shifters series. All of the books are interconnected, featuring a different couple. And by reading them you get more background. Another neat little tie in, if you read LP Dover’s books is that you just may see these characters show up in other series – like her Armed & Dangerous series. Tyla makes an appearance in Roped In. So if you are like me, you appreciate those little tidbits, like getting to visit friends as they make little cross over appearances. Again – this isn’t anything crucial to the storyline – just fun background and hey if you did read and want to know more about the ranch Tyla refers to… go #1Click Roped In!
Now it doesn’t get much more alpha than a wolf does it? How about if we make if a true born royal who has spent his life protecting people. Oh yeah and now he has sworn to protect Tyla. Only she can’t stand being around him – or so she says. Doth the woman protest too much? Sebastian and Tyla set off together to find out what is happening to the wolves from her old pack.
Resisting the Moon sucked me in. It was the perfect bland of paranormal lore, romance, action and suspense. I flipped through those pages quickly wanting to know what on earth was going on. How it was all going to end up. And the chemistry between Tyla and Sebastian!
If you like a little bit of wolf in your life – snatch up this sexy paranormal romance today!
I received a complimentary copy of Resisting the Moon in exchange for my honest review.
