“You,” I said simply. “It all leads to you. Everything. And I think, for now…” I leaned up, brushing my lips across his. “That’s all that matters.”

In Rip, Rachel Van Dyken once again returns to the mafia, only this time it is the Russian mafia. So Rip has a bit of a darker feel to it than her past mafia books, to which this one is loosely tied.  After all as the last line of the blurb tells us: Welcome to the world of the Russian mafia, where death, is your only future.

So, if you are one to read blurbs/synopses you get the feel right off the bat that this book is going to be a bit gritty and dark. That death and deceit are going to play a role. And that the heroine, Maya was going to be one tasty morsel just dangling in front of our sexy doctor Nikolai tempting him until he can’t help but fall. Because really when has anyone taken Just. One. Bite? And the author doesn’t let us down. In fact she more than delivers packing this dark romantic suspense with twists and turns throughout that will keep you on your toes. This is the type of book that will keep you guessing up to the very end trying to figure out EXACTLY what is going on. 

This is the type of book you don’t want to divulge a lot about… in fear that you give a clue away. You truly need to read and experience and figure things out for yourself. But if you know me you know I LOVE a good messy character! And we have that here! Nikolai and Maya… neither are perfect. I liked being able to see them grow and develop throughout the book. I liked being confused over how I felt about Nikolai and then having him grow on me. Being able to watch their relationship develop, and build. I loved seeing characters from the Eagle Elite series make an appearance in the book. – But don’t fret that series is NOT required reading to enjoy Rip. This is a spinoff and STANDS ON ITS OWN! 

I definitely recommend you buy this book, rip into it and don’t look back!
