Welcome to Storm, Texas, where passion runs hot, desire runs deep, and secrets have the power to destroy…
Nestled among rolling hills and painted with vibrant wildflowers, the bucolic town of Storm, Texas, seems like nothing short of perfection.
But there are secrets beneath the facade. Dark secrets. Powerful secrets. The kind that can destroy lives and tear families apart. The kind that can cut through a town like a tempest, leaving jealousy and destruction in its wake, along with shattered hopes and broken dreams. All it takes is one little thing to shatter that polish.
Reading like an on-going drama in the tradition of classic day and night-time soap operas like Dallas, Dynasty, and All My Children, Rising Storm is full of scandal, deceit, romance, passion, and secrets.
With 1001 Dark Nights as the “producer,” Julie Kenner and Dee Davis use a television model with each week building on the last to create a storyline that fulfills the promise of a drama-filled soap opera. Joining Kenner and Davis in the “writer’s room” is an incredible group of New York Times bestselling authors such as Lexi Blake, Elisabeth Naughton, Jennifer Probst, Larissa Ione, Rebecca Zanetti and Lisa Mondello who have brought their vision of Storm to life.
A serial soap opera containing eight episodes in season one, the season premiere of Rising Storm, TEMPEST RISING, debuted September 24th with each subsequent episode releasing consecutively this fall.
So get ready. The storm is coming.

Jill’s Review for WHITE LIGHTNING:
OOH YAY! My weekly dose of soap has arrived! I am sooo addicted already to Rising Storm and could not wait for White Lightning! And let me tell you Lexi Blake did a fantastic job with Episode #2!
White Lightning picked up right where we left off last week from Tempest Rising amidst all the drama, secrets and lies. And Lexi Blake handled this episode masterfully. That was one of the things I wondered about the most with this series. Would I be jarred out of my reading because each book would have too different of a feel to it. Would the books be so disjointed that I just wouldn’t be able to lose myself in the steamy, soapy storylines? But whoah! Silly me for even entertaining those thoughts!! Just like my favorite soaps that seamlessly flow from one episode to another so does Rising Storm. These authors take the character arcs and run with them.
A large portion of White Lightning centers on the “villain” as you may think of him in the soap opera world. And boy does Senator Rush leave a foul taste in your mouth! You know those characters you just LOVE to HATE? Yup! That is HIM! Good looking and knows it, rich, slimy, preys on the innocent, cheats on the wife, powerful, has secrets and you know more is yet to come! I could totally picture him starring in a real life soap (yes I AM that cheezy!) But what I found better than TV was that we could hear his inner dialogue here in the book, and that just gave his character and the book so much added dimension!
It was nice to get a glimpse of how people are coping (or not) with their grief over Jacob’s death. It is funny because this series makes me feel like a gossipy woman in the best of ways! I want to have someone to dish about it with and say OOH OOH OOH did you just see that? Did you hear what she said?
I definitely recommend that you all jump aboard this series. Just start from the beginning 😉 They are fun, quick reads that will grab, you and suck you in!
I received a complimentary copy of White Lightning in exchange for my honest review!
