From the bestselling author of Pulled and Take This Regret comes a gripping new tale of loss and love.
William has spent six years running from his past and the last eight months trying to rid his mind of the dreams that increasingly haunt his nights. Trapped in a world of false ambitions and feigned affections, William knows he’s reached a breaking point and something’s going to give.
Maggie had lived her entire life without hope until one man showed her what it meant to be loved. He’d been her light in a lifetime of darkness. Six years ago, that darkness stole him away. Without him, she’s surrendered herself to an existence she doesn’t know how to escape.
When the family William left behind is struck by tragedy, he is called back to the one place he’s sworn to never return to again.
In a moment that will change his life forever, William comes face to face with the girl who, with one look, captured his heart. He is unable to ignore the buried desires and the hope for the future they’d once believed they’d have.
Now William is ready to fight to take back what had been stolen from him six years before.
But he never imagined what that fight might cost him.

Jill’s Review
A.L. Jackson’s When We Collide tells the story of two lives who collide unexpectedly the night they first lay eyes on each other and despite their years apart can’t stop the collision from occurring when they meet up again six years later.
William and Maggie first see each other at a party while he is home from the summer. As soon as their eyes connect it is evident there is that magical something between them. But Maggie is there with someone else. Her boyfriend. And to say that William and Troy don’t like one another would be an understatement! Maggie’s background hasn’t shown her how much she is worth. And she is timid, withdrawn and without much hope. That is until she and William begin their friendship. One magical summer that gives her that taste of hope. Until it is all ripped away.
A.L. Jackson tells this story from both William and Maggie’s POVs. It takes place both in the present day and in flashbacks to six years ago to when they first met. The way in which she weaves this tale makes sure you feel it deep in your heart. It is not just the words she uses that evoke the sensations, though those hit every mark perfectly for me. But the clever use of the flashbacks, so that you relive those moments as they happened for them, makes it hit so much harder. Then when you see the struggles that they are dealing with in the present WHAM! it all just goes straight to your core and makes you hurt right alongside them, love right with them, hate with them, fear with them.
But it is through reliving these memories with them that we gain a true understanding of the depth of their feelings for each other. Despite how brief their summer together was their connection was deep and meaningful. We get to see the inner strength that runs through both Maggie and William. Don’t mistake either of the struggles that they face in life as a weakness… they both have a strength that shines through, especially when it comes to protecting those they love.
I definitely recommend this book. It is one that will stay with you.

A.L. Jackson is the New York Times bestselling author of contemporary and new adult romance.
She first found a love for writing during her days as a young mother and college student. She filled the journals she carried with short stories and poems used as an emotional outlet for the difficulties and joys she found in day-to-day life.
Years later, she shared a short story she’d been working on with her two closest friends and, with their encouragement, this story became her first full length novel. A.L. now spends her days writing in Southern Arizona where she lives with her husband and three children.
