His kiss surprised me, but I quickly sank into it. His mouth was like magic, chasing away all my doubts and fears. Without thought I spun to face him, bracketing his legs with my own. I fisted my hands in his hair and kissed him back. With each touch, I felt a fire growing in my stomach. His hands slid down to my hips, pulling me closer to him. When I felt him pressed against me, I couldn’t help the groan that escaped.
“Chaque nuit tu hantes mes rêves.” He whispered the words against my mouth. I didn’t know what he’d said, but God, it was sexy.
“What does that mean?” I leaned back while he trailed kisses down my throat.

Flukes by Nichole Chase is the first mermaid tale I have read as an adult — which is shocking, if you truly know me and my long time obsession with all things The Little Mermaid.
Meena is very close with her family. They work side by side at Flukes, the animal sanctuary that they own. This summer when a new group of volunteers arrive at the sanctuary to help out – they are a bit rougher than what has come through before. This group of court appointed volunteers sets the family on alert.. but Blake has Meena on alert for different reasons. His danger to her are more along the lines of how sexy he is, and how dangerous he is to breaking down the walls she has set up around herself.
Blake is that bad boy we all love. Sexy, mysterious, protective and you can just tell form the get go he is burying a heart of gold underneath it all. Oh yeah, and did I forget to mention he is also artistic. *Sigh* what is not to love about this boy?
As Meena is trying to protect her secrets, Blake is trying to figure out why he is so pulled to her. The attraction between Meena and Blake is undeniable (no matter how hard Meena tries!) Yet their relationship is sweet and endearing. I loved watching their characters unfold in the story. I always adore when there are multiple sides to a person and Nichole Chase did not disappoint here (and no I do not mean the human/mermaid sides). But we get to see how their home lives and their pasts affected them and shaped who they are. It has added depth to their personalities.
This is a quick read that will leave you entertained. There is romance, some drama/mystery for Meena to uncover about her life, magic and of course chemistry and heat! Snatch up this Mermaid gem, you won’t be disappointed!
