When 27-year-old pop sensation Brooklyn Heart steps in front of a microphone, her love songs enchant audiences worldwide. But when it comes to her own love life, the only spell she’s under is a dry one.
So when her label slots her for a Grammy performance with the sexy and soulful Jason Monroe, she can’t help but entertain certain fantasies… those in which her G-string gets more play than her guitars’.
Only one problem. Jason is a lyrical lone wolf that isn’t happy about sharing the stage—nor his ranch — with the sassy singer. But while it may seem like a song entitled ‘Jason Monroe Is an Arrogant Ho’ basically writes itself, their label and their millions of fans are expecting recording gold…
They’re expecting The Duet.

The Duet will be priced at $2.99 for two days post-release, then the price will bump to $3.99!

The M Lounge was the hippest and most discreet club in LA. If there was any hope of me locking down a one-night stand, M Lounge was the place to go.
“I can’t drink much tonight because I have that meeting with my record label in the morning,” I warned as we passed through the back entrance to the club and headed up a set of stairs that were used exclusively for the VIP level. Fun fact: one time I was going up those stairs when P. Diddy was coming down, and he totally touched my ass. Allegedly.
“Just to clarify: if you’re begging me for tequila shots at midnight, threatening to kill my first born if I don’t give them to you, I should still tell you no?” Cammie asked, just to ensure the boundaries were set. Better safe than sorry.
“That was one time and it was in Cabo,” I protested. “What else are you supposed to do in Cabo other than challenge a mariachi band to a tequila shot contest until the lead singer passes out beside a donkey?”
Cammie held up her hands and started listing off items. “I dunno— enjoy the beach, check out the museums and the culture—”
“That was a rhetorical question,” I interrupted as we made it to the top of the stairs.
As if by magic, the black curtain in front of us swept to the side, opening up an entire room of drunken debauchery before us. In one corner, a celebrity who shall remain nameless (we’ll call her Nennifer Janiston) was sucking face with a sexy man, and across the room two of the funniest women in comedy were doing body shots off of a waiter from the club.
“Welcome to the behind the scenes of Hollywood,” I whispered to Cammie.

I’ve been fortunate enough to read every book RS Grey has published. Every book has been a five star, if not six star read for me and that is no exaggeration. So when I say fortunate, I mean it. Naturally, when I found out she was writing The Duet I wanted it like yesterday. I had such great expectations and after the first page, I knew my anticipation for it had been so worth it. Even better, my expectations were met ten fold. It had me laughing out loud on page 1 and I didn’t stop through the entire book. I knew she would have me laughing, she always does. But this one was different – it made me sigh, tear up, swoon and smile the entire way through. And that’s because of RS Grey’s amazing ability of making me drawn to each character she writes. She manages to create depth in each character – it doesn’t matter if they’re a primary or secondary character, they have strength and emotion and she makes them an important part of the story, and one you are drawn to.
Jason & Brooklyn are rock stars. They might be as opposite as it comes from a professional stand point and possibly their personal lives too, but when they come together it’s impossible to not see how similar they are. They’re lyricists, musicians, over achievers, stubborn to the core, smart a$$es, but mostly they’re lovely people. Jason is intense, somewhat of a brooder, beyond sexy and all man. Brooklyn is light hearted, beautiful, happy and sweet. Oh and she hates spiders so she’s pretty perfect in my book. Brooklyn and her sister Cammie are to each what every woman desires to be to their friend, sister, aunt, mother – you get the picture. They’re as close knit to each other as sisters can be and their relationship is nothing short of hysterical and adorable.
‘”No need, sissaroo, because I had sex just last month.” She was full on gloating. What a dirty hooker. You don’t gloat about having sex to someone during her dry spell. Had I taught her nothing?’ <<Just a taste of the awesomeness that is Cammie & Brooklyn’s no filter and no boundaries relationship.
When Jason & Brooklyn get paired together to write a duet for an upcoming Grammy Awards performance, the new duo find themselves in the middle of a sexual tension tornado they can’t seem to escape from. Trying to write a duet with someone you’ve only just met, and quite honestly don’t like all that much, proves to be quite challenging, especially when you’ve only written solo before. So they decide on some inspired and, well, stimulating (wink wink) ways to get their creative juices flowing. As they sing and strum their way through new lyrics and melodies, do they give way to the sexual chemistry that could make or break the duet? “I hope you got a good look because you’re never going to see this a$$ ever again,” I joked. Jason’s amused smirk turned into something a little more dangerous. He stepped forward and gripped my robe, just below my hips, and bent down so his mouth hovered over mine. “No worries, Sweet Cheeks. I’ve been told I have quite the memory,” he said as I held my breath.
Jason & Brooklyn battle their way through co-writing The Duet as well as finding a piece of their self that maybe, just maybe, had stayed hidden for quite some time. I loved their banter, their steamy exchanges, the depth of their character and the overall melt-your-heart feel of The Duet. Don’t hesitate to grab this gem – you will devour it just like I did!
Jill’s Review
R.S. Grey’s books have been recommended to me for some time now. I have been hearing, “Read them you’ll love them!” Over and over and over. And it’s not that I don’t trust my friends, because I do. And It’s not that I didn’t want to give Grey I try because I did. (I even have Scoring Wilder sitting there waiting for me and waiting for me on my kindle.) It just seems like something ALWAYS comes up to knock books back down my TBR. There just aren’t enough hours in my day for me to consume the books that I want. Do you know the feeling? So when I saw the tour for The Duet come up I jumped on thinking: AHA! Now I have the perfect excuse to move this baby to the top of my TBR! No slinking out of this one Jill!
Well, am I glad that I did! I just adored R.S. Grey’s first book in the Heart Series, The Duet! Her characters were engaging. Every one of them had something to offer the story whether they were a main character or a side one. They were full of flavor and added an extra dimension to the story. All of the various relationships – from the sisters, to the friendships, to that between Brooklyn and her assistant Summer, to Brook’s relationship with LuAnne were unique, fun-filled, and genuine. Wish I could have been a part of it!
The story itself was fresh and fun and enjoyable. Brooklyn Heart and Jason Monroe are both successful musicians in their own right and now their label has decided that they should join together for a DUET for a Grammy Performance! Sounds easy right? Only their first meeting goes horribly wrong! And they both usually write solo! Oh and they kinda don’t like each other! BUT when the two get together Sparks. Will. Fly. Will they admit it? What will happen?
I had a huge smile on my face from the first page of this book and it rarely left my face the entire time I was reading. R.S. Grey had me laughing out loud with the witty banter she incorporated in the story. She also warmed my heart. Plus – the sexual tension between Jason and Brooklyn! HOT! I just LOVE when a book has some of everything! I highly recommend this read! The rest of her books just got bumped to the top of this chicks TBR!

I am a lover of books, chocolate, reality TV, black labs, and cold weather. Seriously, if I had it my way, I would be curled up on the couch with all of those things… everyday.
I live in Texas where I spend my free time writing and reading. My favorite authors include Mindy Kaling & Jonathan Safran Foer. I’m a comedy geek and love all things “funny”. Women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Mindy Kaling are definitely the biggest inspirations for my writing, though I think my work tends to skew a bit smuttier than theirs.
