Review From Kelly

★★★★★FIVE STARS for Unbroken by RE Hunter

Earlier this year, I started reading a book called Undone by an author I had never heard of because a fellow blogger told me I HAD to. She was so adamant I would love it that she gifted it to me. I figured- what the heck, it’s a free book. But once I read the prologue, I could tell it was going to be something really special and I was hooked. I devoured the book in one sitting and wanted to cry once I realized there was a major cliffhanger and I would have to wait months for the continuation of the story. I needed it THEN! The story was so good that I couldn’t get it and the characters out of my head.

So I’ve waited (really impatiently) for Unbroken, book 2 in the series. As I’ve waited, I started wondering how RE Hunter could possibly write a book as good as the first and hoped that it would live up to the expectations I’ve had in my mind. Let’s be honest- a lot of times, the second book in a series, especially when it’s the conclusion, doesn’t live up to the hype and I hate when that happens.

But I’m so happy to say that she hit it out of the ball park with Unbroken- making me fall in love with the story and its characters all over again.

Unbroken starts with a bang, answering the question we’ve all been asking for months– how Luke, our beloved Southern Sexy, found himself in the mess he was in at the end of Undone. I may not like what happened, but it was a LOT better than all of the different scenarios my mind had created while waiting. And I was so happy that I could still respect and love Luke and cheer him on while he fought to get Embry back.

That’s all I’m going to say about the actual story because I HATE spoilers. I will say that the chemistry and passion between Luke & Embry is off the charts HOT. They’ve never lacked in that department for sure! And the way that Luke protects her and spoils her is absolutely swoon-worthy. But probably what I loved the most is how the two worked together to fight for their love, even when demons from their past tried to tear them apart. They really proved their commitment and love for each other in this book and it was so beautiful to read.

I cannot recommend this series enough. RE Hunter has a true talent and I cannot wait to see what she brings us in the future (preferably an update on our Southern Sexy *ahem*)!

Five years ago, Embry Jacobs ran…

She ran from a past that still hasn’t let her go, but her dream of becoming a lawyer is stronger than her fear of confronting that past. Embry’s sole focus is to get through law school—with the help of her best friend, Morgan—and make something of the broken girl she became. Not thinking about falling in love, being in a relationship or even entertaining the idea of romance, Embry is moving forward one day at a time.

Luke Brody is charming and sexy, and has a past of his own. He wants nothing more than to put his demons to rest and move on with his life. But, when Embry enters the picture, is he destined to repeat those same mistakes?

Blindsided by their instant attraction, neither Luke nor Embry are prepared for the feelings they’re developing. But will it all be for nothing?

Will they let their pasts destroy them, or will they risk everything to fight for their relationship when it all comes undone?

Excerpt

Everything he was looking for was there, in her eyes, a thousand words passing between them as they stood across from one another. His eyes swept over her, taking her in. She was fucking beautiful, her hair falling in loose waves over her shoulders, a tight sweater and jeans that could’ve been painted on, accentuating every soft curve.

His fingers burned to touch her, but he couldn’t ignore the sad look in her jade eyes, or the guilt that washed over him. He planted his feet firmly on the floor, fighting the urge to sweep her into his arms, hold her again. And then his world crashed and burned as Jeremy’s arm shot out, hooking around her waist and pulling her into the classroom. She turned, stealing a hopeless glance over her shoulder, then she was gone.
